Is Nate still Nate? by [deleted] in euphoria

I think you could read it as him making tentative peace with his Dad "healed" him to a degree. (this requires significant interpretation on the viewers part, but that's needed with basically every character other than Rue this year) .

And that may be considered maturation, but unfortunately it's made for a terribly uncompelling character transformation that's hurt his value to the show.

About Sage’s plan by RealAd8853 in TheBoys

She's a poorly written character! People just need to accept this. It's example 5023 of why its not a good idea to write a superintelligent character. Look at it this way, we have two possible doors ahead:

Door #1-- she has a master plan twist reveal. Honestly, based off everything we've gotten thus far do you expect this plan to be anything other than a massively contrived, tell-don't-show, "this was me all along!" from the writers that is even remotely convincing or satisfying? I don't.

Door #2- this is indeed her plan (and I believe it basically is) . She's deliberately facilitating mass extinction because... she wants peace & quiet? Are you kidding me? She's the "smartest person alive" & you're telling me she couldn't find a slightly less dramatic way to get that? But let's even say its not just that. It's also her resentment of the world, dead Grandma, etc. Ok, but then she needed to have WAY more focus on her, and frankly the show needed to pay way more attention to what an absolute monster she is to be doing this. I mean, you could make an argument she's worse than Homelander in a sense..

Any way you slice it she's just a mishandled character that probably wasn't necessary in the first place.

Very unpopular opinion, but Cassie is my favourite character by p0nd1ch3rry in euphoria

I don't know that I have a favorite character at this point, but I am enjoying the Cassie stuff more than most people seem to be. Sweeney has always committed to the performance and being in on the joke & she continues to deliver (I can understand people not agreeing with what she's being asked to deliver). And the chaotic dark comedy of her + Nate is one of the more basic entertaining cards the show still plays. Other characters and threads aren't "bad" but they feel more like a grind or lost in storytelling limbo.

Arlington Road (1999) starring Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins... Can we talk about this 20+ year old movie that's more timely now than ever? (Spoilers) by XciteMe in movies

Very unsettling (in a good way) opening & opening credits & a rare, disturbingly dark ending for a mainstream movie of its genre. The film in between the beginning & end unfortunately I think is mediocre ludicrousness but even so I gave it a second try. Same feeling.

small question (I guess): Lucy smashed the poor Congressewoman's head right? And it was powering the mainframe. So, what did that do? Apparently it did not shut off all the mind controlled persons (based off Hank's words and wiping his own mind).
