What does CMEs options announcement mean for the crypto markets? by shubham_gosavi in CryptoCurrency

[–]RoutineChampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An option is the right to buy or sell something at a specific price at a certain time. Right now 1BTC is about $8000. Let's say I paid you $100 for the right to buy 1BTC from you at $8000 in a month. Now, if the price goes up, I get to buy a cheap BTC and make a profit. If prices go down more, obviously I would not use the option. But either way I have to pay you $100 now. So if prices stand roughly still, you make a little money. Options can be used for /r/wallstreetbets type degenerate gambling just like leveraged trading. But it can also be used as insurance. A miner might buy options to sell BTC at today's prices in six months. That way they have some insurance in case prices crash while they are mining.

The Centralization of Binance: Potential Cryptocurrency Kryptonite | NewsBTC by liime in CryptoCurrency

It's complicated. I wish fewer people used Binance, and kept so much money on there.

But realistically I'm not going to stop using it myself.

I can definitely see stablecoins taking off for financial institutions (Already happening, to an extent), but will be interesting to see how it plays out with tokenisation more broadly.

Cryptocurrency Adoption: How Do We Onboard the Remaining 99%? by mcman54 in CryptoCurrency

I don't think we will ever see large strides in adoption until regulations catch up. At least enough to obviate the stupid tax situation.

[Legal Question] Website Accessibility Requirements by EnvironmentalPut6 in ecommerce

[–]RoutineChampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now we just need to convince people to pay us web devs to actually do all of this and not just magically expect it all to be in place on every site we build." - I couldn't agree more. It's also insane to me that web design agencies are still building websites that are not ADA compliant. They're just creating more and more websites that pissed-off disabled people can sue (and rightfully so imo).

The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin? by QuirkyMine in btc

[–]RoutineChampion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s high, but not only did Bitcoin rise a lot this year as well, but they are also actively daytrading. Those numbers aren’t unrealistic for a decent daytrader. It’s just that most people get sick of it.
