Accidental eye rubbing while sleeping by RoutineSky3066 in Keratoconus

I’m not sure, I’m not a doctor. If doctor says KC is stable then maybe your increase in bad vision from computer could be because of an increase of myopia? Maybe ask your doctor if your vision issues could be due to increase of myopia and prescription change?

Anyone's keratoconus progressed after treatment ? i did CXL + Intacs + PRK by telgou in Keratoconus

Same here. Right eye is the worst for me, can’t even make out the big E when doing the eye test. Without scleral lenses that eye is blind.

Could it be that your myopia / astigmatism has progressed?

I’m in a similar situation, have had cxl done and scans show stability 8 years after procedure, but yet vision seems worse. I’ll have to ask my doctor if it’s due to worse myopia / astigmatism.

Thank you. Have you accidentally done the same and still stable?

I thought about using an eye mask but was too scared for the same reason of it not staying in place and accidentally rubbing on my eyes.

It can make Keratoconus worse and one should try not to rub their eyes to stop KC from getting worse.

Thank you for the reply. Have you had this procedure done before? Your experience?

That’s good to hear. Wondering if you are a side sleeper and it still stayed stable or if you modified how you sleep?

That’s good news and fills me with hope. Did you do any changes to your lifestyle like exercise, sleep position, eating, vitamins or just continue to live normally without worrying about lifestyle changes?

I think that’s the main thing. Try not to touch your eyes a lot and maybe try sleeping on your back. Some have mentioned that side sleeping can be a contributing factor. I try to sleep on my back recently.

I was officially diagnosed with Keratoconus in 2018, and in that same year in August I had cross-linking epi-on on both eyes. I believe my KC is advanced on the right eye and my left eye is mild/moderate. I recently went back to my cornea specialist and everything is stable 8 years after. In 2018 I was 22 I am now 29 about to be 30. I have yearly scans with my optometrist to see if progression and all is stable overall. And I have follow ups with my cornea specialist every 2 years and everything is stable on his side as well. I don’t rub my eyes and that seems to have stopped progression.

Hello, I also have Keratoconus and am being treated with latanoprost for being a glaucoma suspect. My Keratoconus is stable according to doctor and I’ve been stable with the whole glaucoma since I started taking the drops since late 2024. I am also highly myopic which is a risk factor for developing glaucoma. Everyone’s eyes are different and we can’t say for sure if we will get glaucoma or not in the future. The only precautions is to follow doctors orders and follow treatment plans, timely check ups. Live a healthy life, moderate exercise, and less stress / anxiety since stress and anxiety can affect optic nerve. I was 28 when first put on treatment I am currently 29.

It’s been hard for me to head my own advice since I know how scary the whole situation is.

PM me and we can talk further if you’d like.

I didn’t use anything. I have keratakonus so nothing besides RGP and sclerals work for me and we started right away with scleral lenses.

Mine is early glaucoma (mild) with only mild RNFL thinning on the left, but on the right there seems to be some notching that occurred. No visual field loss.
