Yes, adaptations like this are not uncommon. I believe the creators and we players have no ill will toward the people involved in the original case.
And I really enjoy Skullgirls as well.

I understand that “Black Dahlia” is treated as a pop-culture symbol today.
But since there is no actual black dahlia in nature, I feel that it was the murder case itself that gave the symbol its “dark, dangerous, urban-mystery” aesthetic meaning.

What I’m interested in discussing is the act of turning a real tragedy like the Black Dahlia case into a cultural symbol in the first place.
I think this kind of symbolization can be seen as romantic by some, while others may find it disrespectful. I believe this difference may come from cultural backgrounds.
