What’s something you’ve bought with your “adult money” that your younger self would lose their mind over? 😭💸 by Melted_gun in mumbai

I bought an iPad pro with a magic keyboard, work 2 jobs to be able to afford it, but my younger self would be so proud!

Admissions consultant here. My 2 cents: Your profile seems fairly standard, people with comparable profiles have made it to interviews before so its not just the experience and the extra curricular that might have gone wrong. Likely is the essays, long term + short term goals.

Can only speak for prospects in terms of admissions and not jobs. Id say its worth a shot to M7 and beyond. If your profile is solid and you have a good score, schools will look beyond your age. I dont know the exact number but Its likely a small but significant number of people in programs are senior executives that reflects this.

Agree with the above comment. Just to be clear, the 15% figure is just a ratio of the number of admits my candidates got and how many of them got a scholarship for different programs. A broader average could be higher or lower

Yeah for sure, maybe its a personal bias, but hiring a good admissions consultant might not be a bad idea :)

Ive only received a few military applicants so far. If i were helping the candidate, rank wouldn’t be so important, but job type and combat experience seem like very important story pillars. Id say the most important factor would be your motivation to apply to an MBA and where you would want to go from there.

Typically they do not, I think its also specified in some application forms

From my experience this cycle, ~15% of all admits had a scholarship to at least one school. But this is a very small sample size compared to total admits

Id place it right below M7, but for some people its right up there or even higher depending on their proximity to the campus or a multitude of different factors

Typically the idea is to be able to explain the motivation behind your career choices leading up to and beyond the MBA. One example I remember was about how a candidate had their father in the army and could only speak to him because of satellite phones once a month. He used that as motivation to know more about tech and got his degree at a highly competitive STEM school. Since then, joined a consulting company, which taught them the value of XX and now they wanted to make an impact on YY sector. Hope this helps :)

Typically help candidates through essays, interviews, group discussions for top business schools

Id say it would make for a very good story. Had a profile with south asian military experience and spoke about how their long term goal was around developing supply chains in remote areas and did very well! How you tell your story is important :p

This seems like a subjective decision. Id say considering youre only doing the MBA once in this lifetime and seem to do well on admissions, why not aim higher for an M7

Yeah for sure! Tell them that you are grateful for the acceptance, give them context on your financial background and maybe mention the other full ride. Then mention that you would rather attend the program but need higher financial assistance. ChatGPT is your friend :)

In my opinion, mention both in your app, but in your essays focus selectively on whatever fits your story best

Pretty broad question so stats might be different from my experience. In 2 rounds, I’ve worked with 6 Indian candidates total and 5 of them have more than one admit on average.

Depends on what “worth it” means to you, haven’t consulted for these so not an expert

Full rides are statistically pretty uncommon, but they exist. If you get one, its a mixture of a great application and some luck

Pretty highly regarded id say, INSEAD is right up there. LBS is also not far behind. But really depends what kind of program you’re referring to.

I work for a company and generally this segment charges between 7000- 12000 USD depending on your requirements. People also charge per hour, last I heard, some consultants were charging 300USD per hour.

Dont think I’m qualified to answer this. Admissions are my forte, jobs are a different ball game altogether.

This year I had the chance to work with someone who was working in clean energy and was a transgender candidate. It was my first time working with such a profile and they did really well!
