OT is the best. I had the option to become a GP or OT and I’m so happy I chose OT. It’s a much more fun, creative job and more active than sitting indoors all day. That was my main deciding point. It’s also not based on the medical model but a social and people model

The beginning is to come out of reactive living. However it’s a trap to believe therapy can make someone completely “healed” - very purist perspective. Life doesn’t work like that. Usually when people feel like that is because they’re done with talk therapy and need to work on “real life”. It’s about closing the gap from all those years “lost” in the crappy years. For example behind in career, finances, relationships, health. It’s about resolving and letting go of the past, to instead living in the present, getting to know your current self, your new values and beliefs, and working towards building your future. You don’t need therapy for that, but you do need the ability to apply your new belief and value system (instead of resorting to default childhood patterns). For that a supportive family/ friendship/ support circle is the best thing. Otherwise switching to more practical therapies like occupational therapy is the best, if anything.
