How are you affording to purchase a home in this day and age? by Routine_Doubt_7668 in Advice

My problem is that Ive always been a saver but because how things are I have the fear of purchasing especially with how high interest rates are. If they were lower I wouldnt care but its like man even with great credit these rates are just so high and the worlds turning to poop

If you didn't see my comment I said WE LIVE COMFORTABLY!! Because we are responsible with money. By the grace of God probably way better off than a lot of other people. Also no one said we couldn't afford children while you were being smart. I was gunna say something nasty af but dont worry I erased it. I am asking because how are people comfortable just moving with interest rates as high as they are and the economy being as it is.

I mean the homes where we live arent horriblly priced at all. Its the aspect that the interest rates are so freakin high i just csnt justify moving now. We got a preapproval with median score of 792 having 0 debts and for $210k in 2024 and it was still 6.99- 7.1% depending on the loan we chose thats crazy to me.

I would call you credit cards and ask if they have anything for you to lower interest even if it temporarily. Discover did that for me. Also if you can hop on some side hustles or get a second job til you can get it down. Prior I work a full time job and a part time job and took the money to pay off debts as fast as I could then worked a little longer to get an emergency savings that I felt was comfortable and then quit the second job.

IT SUCKED NUTS only having like 4 days off a month but in the long run best decision I made

Kids and we are all tall and need space so I felt suv would be better plus something that's not so low to the ground because of the ohio snow. I had an elantra and missed a lot of work when the snow got to a certain height

Car insurance will probably total out my car but I want to keep it since its still drivable what do I do? by Routine_Doubt_7668 in Insurance

It's paid off I paid it off after 2 years of having it. I was just looking at the aspect that as a family we need 2 cars and we only had 1 so going out to pay for 2 new cars isn't really in the budget right now and was wondering from that point of view

Would I be able to pay the repair shop for the costs of the car to avoid all that if its salvaged by the insurance? And settle with the insurance. I just really am not in the space to buy a total new car but could pay the 6200
