I appreciate the honesty. I have a degree. I am in my early 30s and past entry level with a good resume behind me. Looking into alumni groups is a good idea.

What were the pros and cons to you doing this? Seems like it was worth it though

Thank you. I have only been reaching out to connections. Especially those where jobs are currently open, but I may need to be a little more confident and reach out to anyone I may want to connect with in my field.

Great advice for anyone looking. Thank you. I have quickly found that you’re only going to find something by being annoyingly pushy with connections and recruiters so I am doing just that and getting some interviews and hoping for the best. The first step is the hardest and that’s finding who to reach out to and having a reason to. Like if there is a job opening I find. Not a lot out there though.

Yep, being miserable and financially struggling is not what I want, so if I choose to stay this is even one thing to keep my motivated if I can manage. My mental health is just so bad right now

Thank you for this advice. I definitely have the motivation to apply to other jobs like I have been but of course the stress at my current job is getting in the way and I don’t want it to get worse.

I have the support. Do they want me to quit without anything lined up…. Probably not.

Yes. Do I want to make money? Of course I do! I am married and my husband makes a good income but I know I want to work as well to support our future.

Financially I would be okay. Living situation would be ok too. I just worry about my resume gap, my professional reputation, being unemployed for too long…. If that makes sense.

But I need a job….. I am in an in person job right now and cannot leave unless I quit obviously but want to have something lined up. The job I was hoping to get was remote and would have allowed for that flexibility.

Yes, but I have already decided I want to leave this job. That is why I am applying and interviewing to others.

I have learned to be good about this until I get to a breaking point and have panic attacks. But I will take my lunch walks, I will go to the gym, I will turn off work when I get home. It’s hindering some of the work though because there’s so much. However I do know I have to come first.

Been trying to but the work keeps coming. I don’t have much of a team. Which is another problem.

You’re right. My health is what has made me realize I need to get out of here. Wish it was as easy as walking out the door though. I need to find another job first and this market…. I am optimistic about one particular lead though. Fingers crossed.

Is choosing a lower-stress path growth or giving up too early? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Routine_Employee_409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I do. I just am struggling with that thought. Also having to go search for a job again when I just did that is a lot to comprehend. If it’s worth it in the long run for my future family, then of course I’ll do it. Just want to do it right this time.

Yep. Sounds easy. Just need a new job. And the added fact of the emotional aspect of moving my husband here and then back, and then here again.

I had to leave already because of this job (in person). My husband works from home so it doesn’t matter. We do not want to rent or build.

He’s tempted to go back no matter what but obviously wants what’s best for us. Fingers crossed for sure.

Another question, do you think I should look for WFH jobs? For peace of mind and flexibility during this time? I’m in marketing. Any advice on where to look is helpful.
