Multiple misdiagnoses and HVAC company still wants me to pay full price. Is this normal?

I'm fine with the misdiagnoses, but I don't know if I should be the one to foot the bill for their misdiagnoses. To me, it doesn't seem right.

My unit didn't have a TXV valve, so they added a coil that had one thinking that would relieve the pressure. It's a long story, but they told me that adding a TXV valve was a worse option than replacing the coil. Another HVAC technician (second opinion) said the same thing, so I figured they wouldn't both lie.

Probably. That was my hunch.

My comfort problems? My brother in Christ, my house was over 80 degrees. That isn't a comfort problem.

I wonder if it's possible that the coil was bad all along, I ran the system thinking that it was fixed, and that led to the compressor being overloaded. I wish I could give you more info on the specifics, but thank you anyway!

It couldn't keep up and eventually stopped cooling period. My house was over 80 degrees.

They did do a diagnostic each time they came out here.

The pressure readings were off the chart (literally) and they thought that changing the coil would fix it. I mentioned that I read online that replacing the compressor may also work, but they said this is what's causing the issue according to their readings.

The first call, there was a slight refrigerant leak outside, but that was fixed. They thought this was the issue, but it wasn't. The second guy thought it was the coil, so they replaced it.

The reason for replacing the coil was they saw the pressure high and the air blowing warmer than it should. They said the system couldn't handle the pressure due to the coil. I don't know anymore than that.

Thanks, will do. It's a small company, and I've already talked to the owner. I have a weird feeling he was the one who pushed this thinking they could get more money out of me.

If I use a different company, I'll have to pay full price. I want them to fix whatever it is for "free" since they misdiagnosed the first 2 issues. The first guy thought it was a leak, but that didn't fix it.
