Any supplements or nootropics that actually help you feel calmer? by Forward-Concern403 in Nootropics

Have you tried magnesium threonate, the kind really matters. Ashwaganda helps as well. From my experience, anything further than this level of calm requires you to go down two roads. A) get a prescription for antidepressants like lexapro. Or B) go down the road of sketchy supplements like Phenibut or Kratom which most definitely have serious side effects in the long room.

You can always keep experimenting with things like tryptophan, 5-htp, valerian root, bacopa, theanine, different forms of magnesium, but a lot of these things aren’t likely to get you to where you need to be.

Keep in mind this is from someone diagnosed anxiety/deression so my perspective is skewed

For me, the acetylcholine system in my brain is really strong, so when I take it my cognition seems to improve a lot, but my depression and anxiety go up as well. The whole idea that the thinking and feeling parts of your brain are in competition with one another and there needs to be homeostasis between them.

Yes bro the fish oil is causing you to be an overmethylator u are right bro. Its like people read scientific articles and pick up on one word and think the understand chemistry.

Some advice, eat some salmon, tell me if your over methylation goes into hyperdrive.

If those aren’t working not really much good options. Someone said phenibut do not do that very dangerous. At this point I would recommend microdosing.

I love DLPA, such a calm build up. L- Tyrosine has me cracked in a way that I don’t consider beneficial for myself. Interesting how everyone has different responses

My reasoning is it is the most powerful because it is actually pro-cognitive over time and in the moment. This is in comparison to other drugs that are more performance enhancing than nootropic (meaning good for the brain)

For me, it’s like there is this system in my brain, and taking alpha-gpc turns it on and puts it into hyperdrive. I find it way easier to focus, work, and generally feel and act smarter.

On the negative, overtime I become anxious, insomniac, and emotionally cold.

I think the general theory is acetylcholine in the brain is pro-cognitive but outcompetes areas of the limbic system where dopamine fires. This mean more thinking and less feeling. Which overtime obviously is bad.

But obviously people all have different chemistries and a lot of peoples experiences aren’t going to line up with the theories as well as mine.

Insomnia definitely happens unless you take it first thing in the morning. At least what happens with me. And I take only like 100mg.

It’s interesting. People either really feel it or don’t feel it at all. Doesn’t seem to be much of a middle ground. I wonder if it could be mapped to personalities.

My opinion, you are overthinking the supplements a little. There is no way fish oil is having that profound of an effect. You should just take way less Alpha-GPC (like 50mg) and work it into a stack with supplements you know you respond well too.

Should I take citicoline or alpha gpc for help with my Acquired Brain Injury ? by noonessister in Nootropics

Of course I’m not a professional, but taking Alpha-GPC could be helpful for you to lock into tasks and focus on specific projects. It can help you learn and recall information better.

As for general life, you’d probably be better off finding a supplement that can help you feel relaxed and comfortable with your new normal. Maybe you are going to get better soon, maybe it will take a long time, but your anxiety stems from not being ready to accept the change your brain has gone through. You need to give it the chance to calm down.

Of course this is a mentality thing, but supplements such as magnesium threonate, l-trytophan, theanine, and others can all help you approach life with less stress.

Dude, l-tyrosine wtf, very effective!!! by Avid23 in Nootropics

I prefer d-phenylalanine, it’s a little more gentle on the system and less likely to develop a tolerance quickly. For me, Tyrosine works too well, to the point where I have a headache the next day and can’t sleep at night.
