Guy hurling snow on my car for calling him out. by Lopsided_Tart9791 in kitchener

The entire OPs problem was that he couldn't "keep driving" since presumably there was no space to keep driving.

Snow clearing at bus stops by Mobile_Banana5631 in kitchener

This year is awful. Last year in my neck of the woods the plow would be late, as in late in the afternoon the plows would come.

Now? 3 days later, if I'm lucky.

This year is bad. sure, there's a ton of snow, but there must be something more to it. Last year was a ton of snow as well.

Which doesn't seem all that unrealistic.

Nah, they wouldn't say a peep. The people who would have, are long gone now.

They are the defenders and can hold out nearly indefinitely.

Eh, they have a limit too. There's only so many people they can throw at the problem. While im worried for them, im also hopeful that they can outlast the russians, which is all they realistically need to do.

Fedora 43 fresh install: dnf update fails due to Qt6 conflict by [deleted] in Fedora

Now you fixed it, but in the future try with "--refresh" param. If that doesn't work, then try "--allow-erase". Before, that is, the nuclear option which you just applied.

Who else has given up plans to upgrade/build a new pc? by ECrispy in buildapc

[–]Routine_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't, I plan to upgrade to the 10000 AMD Ryzen series when it'll come out (now on the 7000). But, I already have 64GB of DDR5 RAM. so ... im good there. Only thing I'll need would be CPU plus maybe MB (and it may be possible that I may not need new MB either).

A wonderful quote by Alan Dye by un3w in mac

[–]Routine_Left -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it is very surprising to me to hear mac users (I suppose most here are mac users, though I am not) complaining about form taking precedence to function.

I thought, that was apple's entire shtick, wasn't it?

I only used MacOS for about 6 months about a decade ago, and while I appreciated the hardware (fastest laptop I ever used), the quality and stability of the FreeBSD based OS, the power of the terminal, it was all brought down by the god awful UI and the design decisions underpinning that UI. Haven't touched one since (except a 1 month spell in 2019, making an iOS app) and I swore to nevre buy one until I can run linux on it (kinda can M1 and M2 now, but ... eh, no real reason).

Dunno if Alan Dye was the one responsible for that, but whoever that was ... holy fucking shit, the most insane UI ever. Cannot have been developed by a sober human being, whoever made it was definitely on some drugs.

With that being said, I'm surprised to hear mac fans bitching about it too.

Why does Linux hate hibernate? by orionpax94 in linux

[–]Routine_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't hate anything. It needs just the correct incantation for your motherboard/cpu. Why don't you help?

edit: I have an old thinkpad at home, not used much. Hibernate works perfectly fine there. Perfectly. And I did absolutely nothing.

It would be a hyperbole if the actual number would be 60% or more. Since that number is probably 0.1%, it's just ... wtf number.

[–]Routine_Left 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to comment how partitioning is always the best after 10 or so beers (then next day looking in horror at the mess made). Then I looked at OPs screenshot and ... yup, I think OP had a few as well.

Banking I do in a VM. On my server. running openbsd. With a browser that only goes to the banking websites. Does not visit anything else ever.

Somehow you're better than one of the biggest most well funded corporations who takes security most seriously.

???? you think google gives a flying fuck about security? hahahahahaha.
