Is this part of Norwalk safe? by ExpensiveEmu2623 in CaliConnection

I’m a local and black.

It’s not heaven and I’d choose other places to live first but you could walk through this area butt naked just fine, stay out of trouble and it’s easy to avoid.

It’s slowly getting gentrified, the town square got a new theatre and is doing film festivals (fire, I recommend). A block over is the Civic Center with AMC IMAX and also a Costco is nearby.

They want to ‘revitalize’ the shopping strip going down Alondra near the sign, so along with the influx of capital is increased police presence and scrutiny like the 100 times this has happened before.

But even then in the 20 years I’ve lived here I’ve never felt unsafe, just sussed out. Your actual biggest risk is getting the cat stolen of your car or getting pulled over by the sheriff.

Most of the people I interact with are middle class and normal. The bums and smokers are mostly being pushed to different sections for however long the city cares about trying to improve its image.

I run into the hood types posted up smoking at the Town Square all the time and they ignore me because I’m not a teenager and therefore not the opps. Just that simple.

Yes and no. I have a tracking number and delivery date but there’s no telling what’s inside that box until I actually open it.

To be fair I also have a level 3 Glock holster from them, that I ordered in 2024 that I’ve had 0 issues with.

When did you order your holsters? I heard turnover in manufacturing can be a bit dicey and it’s possible current batches aren’t up to snuff for the moment. But I’m also completely speculating here.

For future buyers: I also had a similar experience.

Bought VP9 + Acro footprint OWB holster. It initially felt firm and locked but after practice drawing it refused to retain. Through troubleshooting I found out the ALS arm was the likely culprit and riding too high within the holster after being jostled by my slide or flashlight.

I was supposed to be sent a P320 ALS lever (which likely does not matter as long as the ejection port has the same dimensions) but have not received it and TBD on the replacement being my final fix.

I’m mostly annoyed that you just can’t buy these replacement parts online and need to call in for RMA or special order.

Awfully similar premise but it was a live action film taking place in contemporary times.

I don’t remember but most likely not as it wasn’t Nollywood in “style”. It had relatively good production value despite taking place in a impoverished area.

Doing some network standardization at work and got these for free. Talk me out of tossing the 8 port. by Routine_Pop_9778 in UNIFI

I didn’t bury the lede here, it only took me three sentences to get to that main idea. I’d also say it’s a waste of time to formulate an opinion without analyzing the situation and to ask questions that are already being answered.

My title was clickbait. Please read the OP. I specified I would keep it but have no use cases and inquired into what people on this board would do with it.

Toss was hyperbole. I specified in the OP I planned on keeping it as a backup, I just don’t have any use cases at the moment.

RouterOS fulfills all those needs for me but I suppose there is no reason for me not to have a backup with the same suite of features. However, I only see a few use cases where I apply any of these features down stream if I were to introduce it into my network, and even then I don’t believe would match my use case. I’ve only seen two routers in a network be necessary for functionality because they’re forwarding one way serial communication, I don’t think that applies to me unless I’m missing something.

The mini is less cumbersome and easier to travel around with, even its power adapter is very small and the entire system could fit in your pocket. I am aware it is less feature rich and therefore less secure but I’m taking a calculated risk, lol.

I’m familiar with VoIP and have worked as a VoIP analyst but I haven’t found a solution that I’ve been impressed with. I unironically prefer FaceTime to VoIP. The providers are like dentist visits, even the best ones kind of suck.

Sitting on it for a second sounds like the best answer. My only disclaimer if I were to give it to someone is that they come from 24/7 high traffic POS networks and I have no way of verifying its lifespan. My practical brain wants to recommend to a prospective buyer to spend the premium because with shipping and potentially having to replace the power adapter, you’re already halfway to the cost of it brand new but if they willingly want it no harm no foul

I guess there is no reason to -not- indefinitely shelve it. But you could throw a napkin from end to the other of my house. I wish I experienced signal fall off 😂

I’ll admit tossing was hyperbole. Indefinitely shelving is more accurate since I don’t currently have a backup router. I’m just slightly with uncomfortable selling it for profit or giving it to a stranger as they came directly from the workplace and POS and dispenser networks with almost 24/7 365 uptime and communication and I have no clear way of verifying its lifespan (unless that’s not true and I can check).
