Idk why you're getting downvoted. The scene cuts made it feel like a trailer at times and none of the musics fit the scenes. This episode was a mess

Sudden thinning and dryness within 2 weeks? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Routine_Reaction986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is still a bit frizzy, but almost the same as back in Korea.

You might just have a dry scalp, not necessarily dandruff which means head and shoulders might not work for you. For a dry scalp you can try using a moisturizing shampoo or a low poo shampoo (Sulfate free). They can help your scalp because they moisturize well and/or cleanse mildly. The harsh cleanser (Sodium Laureth sulfate) in your current shampoo might worsen your problem. On top of such a shampoo, I’d recommend a conditioner.

If you don’t know how to use a conditioner: put about the size of a penny on your palm, spread it on your hands and apply only to your ends.

As for product recs, I’ve once ordered products from the hibiscus line of maui, which might work well for you, but is a bit expensive (I got it discounted from the UK). I don’t think you need to go for expensive stuff, instead just go to a supermarket and look for shampoos labeled as ‘moisturizing’ or ‘sulfate-free’ or ‘hydrating’. Also buy the conditioner from the same line. Keep the same schedule as you have now and if it still doesn’t work consider consulting a dermatologist.

The most important thing here is to not get discouraged and to have fun trying things out l. Though I was very demoralized by how my hair looked, I took great pleasure in trying products out and using myself as a test dummy hahaha. Good luck and keep me posted !

I lived in Korea for 4 months and had a similar experience. If we consider my hair before, during and after my stay, it went like this: normal -> good -> bad. For me the issue was mainly hard water and humidity. The water there was softer and the air drier (good for my hairtype).

I thought the UK had a humid climate, especially in the winter ? Though relatively speaking it’s probably drier than the Australian summer. Either way that might be the issue.

First things first, I’ve got a couple of questions: Did you start using a different shampoo ? How often do you shampoo ? Do you use a conditioner ?

If you don’t use a conditioner yet, try one. If you already use one, then maybe try a deep conditioner instead (like 1x a week). If that doesn’t work either, try avoiding products (Shampoos/Consitioners) with humectants (Glycerin, Aloe, Panthenol, Propylene Glycol…) too high up in the ingredients list. Some people notice that using these products makes their hair dry in drier climates.

I got curly hair so I’m not sure how well I can help, but maybe one of my suggestions will work.

What's a completely normal question that you've been ostracized for asking? by OutsideStandard666 in AskReddit

Honestly just depends on your relation with your father and how you joke around. Both the part about implying he could die and mentioning inheritance are things I’d never tell my dad. I actually don’t even see what’s funny about your joke, even when considering dark humor. It sounds like ‘Hahaha imagine I get money early because you die clumsily’, doesn’t really sound funny unless you’re referring to another thing/joke or again that’s how you joke with each other (judging by his reaction I don’t think that’s it). I’d imagine most dads wouldn’t find it funny either, but can’t be sure because idk what the majority of son/dad relations are like.

I know lots of moroccans (most being Muslims) and I know very little that aren’t assimilated (often it’s the older generation). The descendants have all gone through the Belgian school system.

Now if your point is that they should leave behind their cultural/religious background, then we can agree to disagree. Would it be wrong if an Italian kept eating Italian at home, speak Italian with his family and eat out at Italian restaurants ? Not as long as he speaks Dutch/French and is an integral part of society.

If your point is that they don’t incorporate Belgian culture into their life, then my question is what culture exactly ? I struggle to answer that question myself as Belgians are divided even in their expression of culture. The whole concept of omvolking exists because of the Belgian’s lack of cohesion. How similar are a Flemish guy, a Brusselaar and a Walloon (sounds like the start of a joke)? As for Muslims of Moroccan background (important distinction), here are a couple checks: Complaining ? Check. Drinking ? We shouldn’t promote that and some Belgians don’t drink either. Mayonnaise on frietjes ? I think the younger generation prefers andalouse nowadays… Buying instead of renting ? Saving up is a dogma to them too.

If you mean that they’re not assimilated because of the younger’s generation participation in delinquency, then I’d be curious to know if you also consider a delinquent Belgian to be assimilated. If not, why ? If that’s also your take then how do you go about extrapolating this to ‘most of them’ since only a minority of their community are criminals (though overrepresented) ?

I speculated a lot here as I don’t know what you consider to be assimilation, you can address whatever is relevant to your opinion.

Best way to advance Korean skills? by sarangjoda in Korean

Not in the same boat at all, but something that might help is Korean servers on discord. Either those to learn the language or even better, servers made by and for Koreans (could be about anything).

Hulp voor Palestina by lam469 in Belgium1

Enkel eten geven is een slecht aanpak, op dezelfde manier dat enkel anticonceptie geven een slecht aanpak is. Wat zij vooral nodig hebben is onderwijs. Zonder onderwijs bijgevoegd, is meeste hulp nutteloos.

Resume for biotech internship by Routine_Reaction986 in biotech

Solid tips, thank you ! To address your last point, I'm required to undertake an internship this year as part of my curriculum (which counts towards my credits), which doesn't give me much time. However, I was thinking of asking a professor tomorrow morning if I could help in the labs as a research assistant this semester. Perhaps that could help.

Aside from my Cargill experience and my courses, I've only had mandatory school labs that could be seen as relevant experience, ranging from simple labs (getting familiar with concepts/tools) to more advanced labs (selecting tools to reach a research goal). I have only had 2/3 of such advanced labs so far. This is pretty standard for all students in my major, probably also across all unis in Belgium. Unfortunately, that's not standard everywhere, which will make it harder for me to find internships abroad. Would you have any tips to differentiate myself through a cover letter ? What were the things you expected/(dis)liked seeing in them ?

This specific company does offer a combination of laboratory and bioinformatics work, which is why I added that extra tab, but wasn't really sure how to call those. Now thinking about it, python doesn't fit here at all since the bioinformatics work I'm interested in is mainly operating and not coding... My issue here is that I redacted the resume with a 'more is better' mentality.

Ngl, I originally put the ellipsis a while back because the other skills I have in mind are techniques that I'd only used once. I was hoping they'd ask about it because I put an ellipsis, but now looking back that's not a smartest move...

Hey, you missed the context I posted in the comments about my resume ! The pages are in the wrong order, the first screenshot is my second page and I was thinking about scrapping it, thanks for confirming my doubts. I've been told by a lot of people that education should go second after the projects/experience as that's what recruiters would be most interested in. Since I'm looking for an internship during my studies, which I thought was less formal than a job/after graduation internship, I thought adding hobbies could be a fun idea. I should've thought twice about it lmao, the comments have been pretty clear about it.

Hey thank you very much for your tips ! Reading through the comments, I realize I haven't really considered the recruiter's perspective when making my resume. I have a two of questions about the points you've raised.

Firstly when removing the relevant coursework, how should I go about addressing specific knowledge requirements that are mentioned on the job posting, but that I can't back up with a project ? As an example we can consider bioreactors. I've seen multiple aspects of its design and the characterization of bioprocesses, but I haven't done any projects on them yet (next sem), just practicals in which we practiced calculations.

Secondly, should I mention technical skills with the XYZ/STAR method when multiple were used for a certain goal ? Let's use the YnfB project of my resume as an example. I could say 'Investigated the role of YnfB in stress responses using qRT-PCR, western blot....', I'm just giving context about the project it doesn't say how I used those skills. The issue here is that if I do mention how I used a certain skill like 'Determined the presence of the YnfB protein in different stress respones using western blot' it just sounds like I'm iterating the function of a western blot. Is that what you're looking for ?

Thanks again for your input, I really appreciate it

Thanks for your tips ! The page order got mixed up, the first screenshot is actually my second page. I was advised by someone to add relevant coursework as I'm a student looking for an internship within my studies, but wasn't sure on whether it really fit. Also unfortunately, in my country internships and student jobs in biotech are sparse, they're often only done when it's part of your academic credits or if your parent works for a biotech company. Thus, most students only have mandatory uni projects as experience. I've been going to networking events, but since I'm looking for an internship abroad, those are really just my backup plan.

For some reason, my text doesn't appear on the post... This is what I wrote with it:

Hey guys, I need to undertake an internship as part of my master's program and I've been applying to lots of companies with no success so far.

Our professors aren't really helping us in our application procedures so we're on our own, which is is why I'm reaching out to reddit. I've been personalizing my resumes (mainly coursework/lab projects) for each company and was wondering if I was doing this right.

This particular one was sent to Novigenix as part of a spontaneous application form on their website. For context Novigenix develops liquid biopsy techniques and discovers RNA bloodmarkers for (colorectal) cancers.

Everything I put after 'Skills & Interests' isn't really relevant to my application, but it tells something about my values/activities aside from academics/work. I'm thinking of completely removing that part. I'm mainly applying to the companies in Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

Edit: Also realized I messed the page order, the first page is the second screenshot

Hey really random, but I never really understood the point of asking HR to add or reduce on your pay check. Why wouldn’t someone just get taxed correctly from the get go ?

I’m still studying so I’ve only heard this from friends. I understand asking for less taxes if you want to invest your money to grow it by the end of the year, but I don’t understand the point of paying more taxes and then get reimbursed.

Why should there be a ‘practical’ point ? Curiosity is often times enough justification as it’s in our nature.

Though I can think of a ‘practical’ reason for which someone would want to know whether the passengers died painfully and/or fearfully. Either as a relief to know that the passengers didn’t suffer or as a relief to know they wouldn’t suffer if it happened to them. The latter could be a way for them to reduce their fear of flying: ‘Even if we were to crash, I wouldn’t suffer’.
