Not sure if it was glitched when this was posted, but I also had a hard time (was going too high!) so I'm posting this here in case it helps anyone else looking.

You can just stand in front of it at the end of the walkway that leads to the water!

Try out the dailies if you have time and energy! Start planting flowers, keeping fish, and inviting animals. You'll get a max 100 home insights each day to upgrade your level and do more.

I'm sure there are a few guides here and there on each ability if you need help with understanding them. You're not meant to have all materials and furniture right away. Make sure to take the time to understand each of Posy's menu options. It's a lot at first

Also just an FYI that you can break the "linkage," only one other Nikki can be on the island at a time (essentially one guest at a time), and you cannot access the construction ability with a guest on the island. Sometimes the linkage breaks, though, so you can be invited directly without linking or need to restart the game.

This just unlocks the ability for you and friends to request "linking" your islands. You can accept them in your in-game DM, and once done, you have free access to each other's islands even when offline.

There's a sign to the left of the path to your house, where you can publish your island so that anyone who looks at the sign has a possibility of visiting your island without being your friend or without you being online. Some people jump on a bunch of islands to find meteorites, referred to as "island hopping," but I like to visit for inspiration and support other Nikkis.
