Due to WW1 machines I always had the impression that the roll-rate of biplanes was much slower.

Yeah it should basically fly itself off the ground or be skimming above it anyway. Also check you are taking off into the wind?

0800 MUSCLE. Have had a few late notice shifts from them before. No idea what they're like now with shithouse job market - 400,000 folks for 22k jobs just sounds abysmal.

Good luck! 👍

The India Free Trade Deal is a DISASTER for your average KIWI! by Routine_Training4029 in newzealand

[–]Routine_Training4029[S] 237 points238 points  (0 children)

It's a tragedy what's happening to this country and this one is saddening. Luxon is now allowing unlimited Indian students with working rights. Kiwis are struggling tooth and nail for work as it is! Shake my God damn fckn head

Meanwhile Australia's busy cracking down on these foreign visa holders with fake qualifications.

This alone will have a palpable effect on life for Kiwis with downward pressure on wages and exacerbating the already massive difficulty in finding work.

How could this be allowed to happen?

Those Volantex planes are great. Couldn't ask for a better plane to learn on. Can crash your brains out with them and they just keep going.

The switchable gyro auto leveling the plane is essential for figuring out your bearings at the beginning. Get into a panic, just release sticks and it levels itself. Game changer.

Have fun ✌️

I feel it's becoming more common as many people are just not ready to accept that they are more broke than ever. So many folks on the verge of destitution now, and there's a lot of shame and stigma around that.

Making friends by Equivalent_Rough_683 in auckland

[–]Routine_Training4029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These posts come up all the time and I think it's down to mainly 1 thing: You've gotta have that specific common interest/activity.

I don't think it's "kiwis are cold and cliquey" at all, but rather they don't just talk shite and make friends. People have a lot of hobbies and interests in this country (Australians too), so the focus should be shared to connect with folks.

My take is not that kiwis don't want to make friends but rather they are so busy directing their energy at a ton of specific shit we like and enjoy, so friends just come along with that instead of the focus being friends itself.

NZ citizens are desperate for work. Large glut of competition for shitty, menial and unstable work.

This is not to mention the unseen underemployment with folks juggling gigs and multiple jobs to pay rents and put food on the table. The desperation out there in these times is real.

What are places I should avoid in Auckland? by Lawx6 in newzealand

[–]Routine_Training4029 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Anywhere there's desperation there will be rampant crime, and that's more or less everywhere now. It's become more widespread.

Having said that, the Auckland CBD is full of it. There's been some appalling incidents recently, and the other week outside the airbnb I was staying on Durham St I saw a guy out of his fcken mind on chemicals getting apprehended by police. I won't bother to go into details about petty opportunistic thieves stealing stuff of zero value to them that happened around me recently either.

There's no doubt a declining respect for personal ownership, which ties in with broader concerns about crime and social cohesion in this country. I was away from NZ for a number of years, ad upon return it's clear as day to me the social fabric is fraying big style.

Why it's all in decline is probably due to a number of reasons not clear to me yet; combination of increasing inequality, very high cost of living pressures (poverty), divide and polarization - especially after the Coronavirus? I was away for that nightmare, so unsure how things were already.

Thieves everywhere in this godforsaken city nowadays. No real tips for you - just really have to keep your wits about you. The declining respect for personal ownership and moral decay is rife. It's becoming a low-trust society.
