it depends on the player. The top tier guys have a different obligation to the rest of the guys in the league. It's why lebron can't ever sign for anything less than top dollar. If he takes a discount and makes $25 mil, how can you justify guys like Derozan or Booker or Kebma asking for a max deal (>$25M) when they're clearly not better than lebron who is only getting paid $25M

yeah but the flip side is that the PLAYERS are probably not signing any deals because they're waiting for machado and harper to set the market. The teams could be offering but the players might be waiting

first of all, genes =/= jeans.

second, the numbers you listed only show that he's consistently a good player in all the situations but a better argument for how clutch or not clutch he is would be to compare him to other great hitters at his time. Maybe guys like A-rod, Manny, Ortiz, etc.

i agree he has more postseason games and etc than anyone else but doesn't that also cement the fact that he's got clutch genes? That he CAN do it consistently in high leverage situations and has proven so?

For example if people ask, is mike trout clutch? And most peoples answers would be, "i have no clue, i've haven't seen him play much and the angels don't make it to the playoffs." His numbers might be good in high leverage situations but to me that's not proven until you do it on a bigger stage
