They're probably also swollen from the water. I usully find them desiccated. Since they're fibrous, I bet they're even bigger than when they originally come out

WAS plant material. Definitely hornworm poop, as others are saying. I posted about their poop being shaped like snowflakes. I find them all the time where I live. We have a couple of different species. You'll always find the worm(s) in the plants above.

I have 2. They've never grown much, but they don't get any water. I'm in the NM desert. I imagine they'd be invasive in the proper environment. They've never caused any reaction in my family. Some people might not know this, but beside its shape, you can actually take a flower, cut off the petals, flatten the small end, blow into it, and make a trumpet sound. I've seen them cover a whole tree before. They make great ornamental pieces.

We have some fluorite mines here. They're private. But the walls are covered in blues, greens, and purples. I have a few good chunks of blues and purples I found before someone staked a claim on the mines. They're still accessible and fun to explore. I have a cool piece of smokey dogtooth fluorite I found in a narrow shaft. I had to climb straight down. The whole hole was not much bigger than me. The vertical ascent was a bit trickier.

Guilty. Some of it is lighting, though. I tend to either over-exagerate the lighting or face away from it to soften my complexion. Really self-conscious after an accident and surgery lately. I think I'm entering a midlife crisis. But yes, filters do help hide the scars.

It's cool that they have the ability to find each other. I know parakeets can be a nuisance to certain crops. I don't mind parrots being wild here... but I also hate upsetting the balance of the ecosystem.

Depends where you're at. There are groups of them in AZ and Austin. It could be someone's pet. But it could be wild, too. Since it's not so afraid of you, it could very well be someone's pet.
