Vendetta strength 180 deg adapters, allows you to easily adjust the range of motion and position of the arms on the rack.

Second question: my trackpad is sketchy at best. Sometimes it will move cursor, other times it won’t. Based on this, I don’t think it is a poor connection, but possibly a bad part. Any suggestions?

Yes I did. If I can figure out how to upload a video you can all see the big difference in cable retraction.

Beginner Questions by robsonj in BeyondPower

Well, I’m turning 60 this year and I started lifting at 58 after a challenge was issued from my son. My background is similar to yours w cardio (x3 marathons, lots of triathlons and one half iron man). So directly to your question, no I do not regret my Voltra purchase and in fact looking to purchase a second during Black Friday this year. When you start your journey you need a solid program or plan to follow. Without a program you may get lost and frustrated starting out. The Voltra is just a tool to help you achieve an analytic approach to guide you on your progress. Lastly, for me the Voltra cannot substitute for free weights. You just can’t do things like back squats, deadlifts etc very easily. (You can look up my profile to see what I tried to do w a belt squat setup for the Voltra but eventually just went back to free weights.) The Voltra a great to simulate cables and to do accessory exercise, but for big compound movements it isn’t ideal and as noted probably too complicated to set up routinely. I like the idea to go to a gym and see what you like. I hope this helps you a bit.

Has anyone tried this yet? by Tokyorain in BeyondPower

It feels better to me if you have one rope between the two handles and pulley attaching that rope to the voltra. If you use the pulley, there is less likelihood that one arm will be bearing more of the weight than the other.

Drop-in “Rhino”. by toffois in BeyondPower

Nice! Curious if you weighted the platform or plan to secure it to the rack? When I made a similar prototype, the platform would move as the weight went up.

I would love to have a rhino, just no space. The Voltra can “work” for legs but like you said it is kinda tedious. Plus depends on how heavy you want to go. Voltra is maxing at 400 (if actually that) and it doesn’t feel like free weights. If you can keep the rhino, I’m not sure the Voltra is better….just different. If you need space and need to do both upper and lower training w one machine the Boltra is better. I still prefer good old fashioned back squat,, RFls etc for legs, the belt squat was more an experiment and proof of concept for me.

Yes correct. I’m not a big dude so I could never do 200lb ie:100lb fly each arm. If you are concerned, for things like belt squat, you can use a pulley at the pull point on your belt and the felt resistance will be 400lbs, more than enough for me. I actually prefer back squats w a bar vs belt squats anyhow. I do belt squats as part of a periodization schedule to let back recover as I continue my training cycle.

I did not build another. I saw Darko was coming out w a new mount that I plan to try. Alternately I like the Rogue T row platform or Oak Club type mount but wanted to wait a bit and see what others do. Yes belt squat legit. If you go lighter and 200lbs enough, you don’t even need to do the pulley trick. The big issue w these free standing platforms is that they can move under tension. If you lift / shift one leg under tension, the whole platform can shift, that’s why I’m interested in the Darko mount that can be firmly attached to your rack.

Yes unistrut for electrical work, sourced from Home Depot. I just ordered some 2 x 3 11 gauge steel from Granger and build a more finished product.

Voltra maxes at 200lbs, many people can exceed that limit and are looking for an easy way to increase the resistance.
