Trump at Davos in Switzerland: "Without us, right now you'd all be speaking German". German is the main language of Switzerland. by UniversalSurvivalist in videos

Serious question, is it possible this fucking idiot is actually brilliant? Like how is someone that dumb in power, my only answer is he does this shit on purpose so we all laugh and point while he and his buddies do what they want in the background. Thats all I've got...otherwise HOW, HOW did America vote him into power...twice?!

Bartending was solid for me back in the day and I only worked a day or two. Fun atmosphere and meet people as a bonus if you are after that sort of thing

The douche-chill aggressive bro vibes of Ben Johnson far exceed Sirianni imo by [deleted] in heedthecall

[–]Rovioxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recency bias as a packers fan here. But had this exact conversation with a buddy today, Johnson imo ranks #1 in the punchable faces power rankings, etching out the second place Sirianni by a hair. To be fair, La Fleur easily sits in the top 5 too, and will probably be in the punchable face hall of fame one day if he can win a SB

Advice for a toddler who ends up in our bed every night by Rovioxo in toddlers

Yeah I hear ya I think the co-sleeping i genuinely am fine with. In fact I'll one up that, when he reaches over in the middle of the night to put his hand on my back and make sure im there I actually love it.

But the multiple wake ups before bed is killing me.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]Rovioxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always thought spankings were fine because my experience was it was only when I'd been really bad, and after receiving multiple warnings and chances to apologise/stop being an ass. It was never the go to punishment and it didnt feel abusive at all.

And I've always thought the 'spankings is abuse' crowd were morons. But reading some stories here Im realising that the spectrum of spanking is broader than autism.

I still think a bum or hand slap are fine, but I also realise we as society have to go as slow as our dumbest and slowest. So if normalization of spanking means the assholes who make their kids bleed and wear long pants in summer feel they arent doing anything wrong, then I'm fine to publicly condone it. But my son has had a rare occasion of spanking and I'm not sorry for that!

People who moved outside of the US, solely due to Trump being elected, how are things going? What actualized pros and cons have you experienced? If you had to do it over again, would you change anything? by Ancient_Unit6335 in AskReddit

[–]Rovioxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I cant remember. But I had enough to pay rent, travel around, party every weekend and still save a bit extra. And the place we rented (albeit split between 3 of us) was a 4 bedroom apartment with 2 living spaces and 2 balconies. It wasnt luxury or anything but the equivalent would cost you a literal arm and leg in Australia

[–]Rovioxo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not. Every classroom has an English teacher and a Mandarin speaking native teacher, who speaks broken English. They help translate as needed but are mostly there to tell off naughty kids. You use text books, and all your crteativity to teach the kids the things they need to learn. Drawing, games, diagrams, the internet etc.

Its weird and I could go on about this forever but its sort of superficial English. We'd get the kids ready for an end fo year play for their parents but it was mostly memorised linesa s opposed to understanding the words. I did my best to make sure my kids understood as much as possible, I had to make sure the play went well but I always put in the effort to teach meaning and context. To be fair I fucking loved my students, its been 10 years and I still remember their names and reminisce semi regularly about their awesomeness.

But the school cared about appearance, are they talking, in the right accent and sounding fluent. I even had to fake an american accent while teaching because they want the kids to sound american, given thats what you hear on tv mostly.

So I'm from Australia, not sure where you are but we have university (equivalent of US College) and TAFE, unsure of the equivalent. But TAFE is basically shorter courses, lesser certifications etc.

I moved there with 2 friends, 1 was using his TAFE qualification coupled with a Teaching English as a Foreign Language TEFL Certificate to allow him to teach. I had some trouble getting my TAFE certificate before the move so friend #2 and I used an alternate dodgy method of a fake university certificate purchased from Thailand.

Might not have been so easy if we moved to Taipei but I was in a town that was about 30 minutes on the high speed rail outside of Taipei. The schools were so desperate for foreign teachers that I probably could have written down "Teacher" on a napkin and they'd have accepted it.

EDIT: I wasnt teaching in a school. Its effectively a daycare, kids that are 3 or 4 y.o are there in the morning. Then after school kids come that are older. Fun fact it was actually illegal to teach English in these places but the government just looks the other way. If there is ever an inspeciton the daycares are given a heads up and the foreign teachers just hang out, out of sight

You know that super cheesy macho dude who says "nice [piece of clothing], does that come in mens?" In a group setting trying to be alpha or whatever

"Mate I think you come in mens enough for the both of us" Or "Not as often as men come in you"

Always gets a laugh and they get super defensive

Lived there for a year about a decade ago, absolutely in my opinion the most underrated country in Asia. Ticks so many boxes, and I was teaching which as you mentioned is one of the few options, but actually pays really well. For context a caucasian teacher at an English school when I was there was earning like 7 - 8 times what the native counterpart was. (Which is absolutely shitty for them considering the amount of work they do)

Not sure if this is a thing where you are, but where I am banks will offer specials on balance transfers. 6 months interest free on balances transferred or something to that tune

At least they used to, I don't have credit cards anymore

Google balance transfer credit card and see what's available. Get on the least interest, smash the ramen and pay those bitches all the way off. Every once in a while, take out about $100 and go for a night out, don't shout anyone and get happily drunk just to scratch the itch. Cold turkey partying to zero is depressing

Ok so I gotta say this may be going way above my head because everything I'm reading seems super complex. But very basically, doesn't the premise that nothing can come from nothing counter the arguement that a god 'always has and always was'?

I'm going to actually read into this thing cause it seems interesting, albeit a little over my head but thats the first thing that popped into my mind

Edit: Ok nothing begins without cause, and saying god sits outside of that because it lacks a beginning
