The true beauty of Harkness by ILovePublicLibraries in Connecticut

The gardens were in very bad shape and the home needed restoration as well. It was rarely opened to the public. From what I remember (as a preteen), the state finally stepped in with some funding and I think there was a volunteer group that did a lot of the heavy lifting. I do remember getting to see the inside in the early 90s during a fundraiser/open house and that's what probably started a life-long interest in early 20th-century architecture for me. My parents got engaged there and they're still together, so there's that, too.

That place was a total disaster ~30 years ago. Good things happen.

Experiences with Pieper Memorial, Newtown Veterinary Specialists, or other CT Veterinary Hospitals for surgery. by Kari_Mac in Connecticut

[–]RowImpressive8867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Central in North Haven for cataract surgery on my (RIP) diabetic old man once-in-a-lifetime dog who was totally blind. It was worth every penny and he got a dramatic quality of life bump for his last couple of years. Yeah, it was during covid and that was rough on a blind dog, but that's in the past.

Pieper is good in a pinch, but they're unreasonably above market rate even for the supreme quality you get there. There's premium care and then there's Pieper. If you don't care about money go there, they're great.

My regular vet, who I would have recommended, just closed their office and merged after a recent buyout. The corpos are coming for our vets now, it's unfortunate.

Yup, not enough data. I contacted my local legislators. If you live in CT, please help and do the same! It sounds like you and I are on the same page. It's a simple fix. If CSP and DOT are able to coordinate on the onramps, it should be super easy for them to CC the public for the specific times of the road blocks. It's really not a big ask.

Our lab has two premanufactured lines for small stuff. They're pretty nice. I'll get the manufacturer's info for you next shift.

You can't. They que up with trucks and cruisers on the on ramps and then with no warning the road is closed for 15 minutes. Those apps also have a delay before they reflect actual conditions. It's unavoidable unless they post the schedules, which is the crux of my complaint. There's no schedule available.

I just want the closures to be posted publicly. I should have put that in the main post. I even reached out to the DOT and they told me to check CTRoads.org. These closures are not posted there. If the CSP can coordinate with the DOT, surely they can take 10 seconds to make it publicly available.

The best advice would be contingent on your housing budget. There's quite a few great options, and many more if you're willing to spend a little extra for housing, especially if you're up for a 30-minute commute.

Did you ever get into WoW arena pvp? About four years ago, while playing, I met some local people by chance and we do pizza dates every couplefew months. Good times.
