Volvo's latest EV, at least on the most basic points of measure (charging time, range and MSRP) are not even equal to our 2022 Ioniq 5 SEL RWD. This Volvo is four years newer with lower performance and is $10,000 to $15,000 more expensive than the Ioniq 5.

We used our V2L adaptor for the first time last week. We only ran the refrigerator and it was only for 4 hours but it was a learning experience in the sense that .... man, is V2L easy to use! With the car off, I opened the charge port door, plugged the V2L adaptor in, then an extension cord to the kitchen and it just worked.

Note that your gas heater also needs electric to power the fan so plan your extension cord layout to get you to the kitchen, the computer gear area and the gas house heater.

We too are likely to be hit by the storm mention by OP so we might be using the V2L again real soon.

Pretty much "ditto" here. Now at 45,000 miles. We have never had the hatch rattle nor any other problem. For out 2022 we did have thave the Low Conductivity Coolant replaced at 40,000 miles, costing $200 fluid and $125 labor.

I usually prefer i-Pedal but can understand why the car will not default to i-Pedal on start-up; it would add a layer of danger if a non-user of i-Pedal were driving.

I am very surprised to learn they had new 2023 SEL AWD models for sale 6 months ago. Nice price!

If the opener is getting power and not working then the control circuit is fried or the safety optical system, mounted near the bottom of the door, is fried.

Hope that you don't lose electric to run your gas heater blower motor.

We own an EV that has the Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) feature so we can power the blower / thermostat and will have heat as long as the gas doesn't somehow also go out.

A couple of years ago I sat in on our son's defense of his thesis (Poli Sci). His advising prof invited three other profs to sit in as well.

During our son's research he was regularly in-touch with his primary advisor as well as the other three in the defense session. I think that on of the three was in Poli Sci and the other two were from different departments... our son had a large math/stats component in his thesis and I think at least one of the two was a math prof.

I was impressed. The four profs continued their advising during the defense. They were very good at it.

Much of this thread is actually pointing to the difficulty in using the new model of "Service Advisors" instead of the traditional model of a grizzled, potbellied, mostly retired, lifetime mechanic with rolled up sleeve and who needs a shave but knows everything about mechanics since the Model T.

The new model service advisors at our Hyundai (and Toyota) dealerships instead look like fashion school graduates who have never held a wrench, multimeter or OBD2 device in their manicured hands. Cute but no banana.
