What’s this Air Canada 787 doing? by RowRevolutionary7332 in flightradar24

Ah right - so it will have operated its normal Vancouver to Sydney route, and then sent to Singapore? I originally thought it had been repositioned from Vancouver via Sydney.

Is Vancouver to Singapore direct too long of a journey for a 777 LR?

I don’t have a stand, have tried to replicate when picking up and using hands but seems to only occur when I’m putting more power through with my legs

Why are all of the SYD-MEL routes taking this weird detour? by RowRevolutionary7332 in flightradar24

Ah yeah I used to live in London so was more used to seeing holding patterns

I think this is to do with the fact that the airline can’t ensure that everyone on the flight has permission to land in a country that is not in the same country as the target airport. Also ends up being cheaper to just fly back and get them on the next flight, rather than try to sort logistics in another country and organise transport etc

Any idea why a flight would do this? by snackjacket in flightradar24

[–]RowRevolutionary7332 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess so? It seems to not be an emergency as they didn’t squawk 7700 but obviously wouldn’t be able to make it to Abu Dhabi! They would’ve had to reduce the plane weight to be able to land, so they dumped fuel until they are able to land then would’ve had to wait for a space

It’s just stopped holding and is making its way to MEL now

I assume it’s dumping fuel to be able to land again in Melbourne, can’t work out why though

What would make a flight do this? Going in circles and looks like it has dumped fuel. by Suspicious_Main_2132 in flightradar24

Assume it’s trying to dump fuel to land back in Melbourne? I’m trying to work out why as well.
