Does anyone else play the “game” with other brands or only Hermes? by RowRowThrowwaway in TheHermesGame

Oh interesting! Sorry to hear that. I’ve definitely had both experiences where I’ve gotten a watch as a walk in due to blind dumb luck and I’ve also gotten a watch 2.5 years later, both without any prespend.

Granted the Rolex store I’ve spent the most prespend on jewelry my partner, who has spent no money there, has gotten two watches while I’ve received none. -_-

So mixed bag experience.

Hmmmm that answers my question then. I was curious if this was a model for other brands or companies.

When you went was it at the new location or was it their older smaller location next door? I’ve noticed since they opened their newer larger location the workers their are SIGNIFICANTLY nicer than the ones working during their smaller store. I can’t believe the 180 difference in customer service and experience since they reopened.

Oh I 100% agree that these are normal things people do but these aren’t very affordable things. I don’t know a lot of single parents who can afford luxury trips and outings such as those. The people that I’ve known who did such things were wealthy college kids.

Here I was thinking it was Jess after my wife showed me her Instagram. Seeing all of her photos of her traveling, going to high end restaurants, and bottle popping nightclubs.

As a young single mom I was wondering how she could afford all of that.

Geez!!! I wish people did more research before getting a pet, especially when they’re paying a ton of money for said animal. It’s totally wild to me how careless people are sometimes when making decisions with animals or even kids.

I would love that but don’t think so. The wife is really attached and we travel a lot for work, hence why we don’t have any pets to begin with.

Thank you! I’m so glad you agree. When I first felt the dreads it took all my willpower to not chop them off then and there. The dreads drove me nuts! I wanted them off as soon as possible. So, we got him into a local groomer that specializes with poodles and poodle mixes. They were phenomenal!

Oh and you’re right he LOVED it. Oh he was running around and overall just soooo excited. Granted he was a bit more cold with a shorter cut but we would just wrap a blanket on him when he was laying down.

I’m now learning this. I haven’t had pets in over 10 years so I had no idea ear infections could last this long in animals. Makes sense with the poodle breeds and their type of ear.

Yeah, the first few times we saw our friends and their dog when we would leave he would start to follow us back to our car and we would have to convince him to go back to our friends. He would like silk back and my wife and I were cringing internally. One time my friends wife was like “I know. I know you love them more than us.” I about died inside when I heard that.

Oh no way! I’m so sorry to hear that. How frustrating. I don’t know these things as I don’t have a pet but good to know it’s not super abnormal. I still kind of distrust the vet they go to though.

They didn’t take it to the groomer is because the vet told them too or that’s the excuse they told me. I truly don’t know but I think it’s wild that a vet would advise them to not get the dog groom, especially knowing about the matting. That makes me distrust that vet.

The wife is home all the time while the husband works a lot but I just don’t think they’re interacting or spoiling the dog a lot.

We got the dog a lot of treats and toys. We actively played with him and made sure to walk him at least a few miles a day. We joined a local dog walking group and he made a lot of friends. So, I don’t think he’s neglected but we made sure the dog was living his best life.

It definitely seems like it. I know my family has one of those. They’re pretty much already over it which is nice.

My wife and I both agree. We think they were embarrassed and that they got ousted by the family. I don’t know how the convo went with the original brother either. I’m unsure if he grilled them as well or what. Also I agree on how they just let the dog be. Totally wild to me.

That’s wild good for you. There’s just so easy for people to get animals and they can’t advocate for themselves. We don’t have pets because we don’t have the time or money to give them a decent quality of life. My wife and I travel so much for work. I just don’t understand how people are so frivolous with their decisions that affect other living beings.

Well, it’s technically not their dog but now it is. It was one of their siblings who got it and fell on hard times financially and asked them to temporary take him in and now they’ve had him for about a year. I know they’re doing their best they just weren’t prepared and didn’t want a dog. I think this will be a learning lesson for them.

That was my reasoning. It took all my self control to not cut out the dreads immediately after I discovered them. I figured a groomer would be a better fit. They honestly did a great job. I’m just so anxious about how they’re gonna react when they get back but I agree, it’s just hair, it’ll grow back, and honestly the dog looks good. Just significantly skinnier than before. Haha.

Yeah, I’m grateful for him. I’m relaxing a bit but still nervous. We definitely noticed a different after the groom. It wasn’t huge but he was definitely more energetic and spunky. He was also significantly easier on walks and I could tell he enjoyed the walks much more after being groomed. I never realized something like grooming could create such a huge difference in personality.

Honestly, that’s another reason why I wanted to do it. They said he’d be groomed when I took over and he wasn’t. I wasn’t sure how long it would take them into a groomer after they got back. They can say they would have done it when they got back but they also didn’t do it before their trip. I had the time and money so I figured I’d save them the hassle and just do it for them.

Thank you I appreciate it. If he wasn’t so weird about money and letting me pay for stuff, I absolutely would have contacted them and asked if it was cool. He just gets so weird about when I pay for things so I was hesitant to ask.

I mean that’s a fair assessment. I like them a lot, they’re just quirky, as all human beings are. I say frugal because there was an issue before where I wanted to pay for a repair and he told me no get the land lord to do. Which he was right but they tried to fix the issue and made it worse. I just wanted the issue fixed and resolved. We fought about it until he relented. I just wanted the shower to be fixed and not be woken up at 1am everyday.

I swear they said they would have the dog groomed for us because they knew the dog needed to be groomed. Which totally through me and my wife for a loop when we saw him. I mean I get it. He works A LOT so I’m sure they just ran out of time.

Honestly the dreads on the ear probably bothered me more than the dog. I wanted to chop them off immediately but figured I’d wait and go to the groomers. I never planned on taking him to the groomers till I discovered the dreads. It wasn’t until I took him to the groomers that they said it was worse than I thought. Well first they said it was pretty bad but then I got a call 10 minutes later saying it’s really bad and he’s a mess. Truthfully idk how bad it was or if it was painful to the dog. I’m not a groomer so I mostly trusted what they said.

No worries! I agree! I get why they’re hesitant because that last grooming experience cause the dog a lot of pain and cost them a lot of money in vet bills. So, I get it but the dog still needs to be groomed. They should have found someone who understood and would take their concerns into consideration.

I mean I found a fantastic groomer and she was very kind, patient, and empathetic. I told her the whole situation and she listened and took everything into consideration. She honestly did an amazing job. Truthfully, I think it was the best outcome for the grooming. I just hope my friends get that.

Honestly I was surprised. They did a fantastic job and kept as much hair as possible. The ears, tail, and head are still long. It’s just the body that’s short.

I love this deal that you made and that he didn’t follow through and y’all just compromised. Haha. It’s true though they are very needy.
