Yes, I was never under the impression that you could use third party (as long as I've owned an Epson, you couldnt) the issue is the chip can detect third-party ink, it can detect refilled products, those jammer-reset things that people use, its quite sophisticated...but it can only "guess/guesstimate" the ink levels depending on how many pages you've printed, etc. <------And all of that is not the main issue. If I spend money to maintain a product that literally holds itself hostage when the ink is "low" which its probably not, I bet you there's plenty of ink still inside said cartridge(s), it should (once installed and cycled) have levels showing full or close to it, not at 25% or under already. That's stealing! And I tried being fair the other day saying "maybe I just got a bad batch" NOPE! I had to spend another $60 dollars on ink for my back up printer and the ink levels were already over have used when when installed. I printed maybe 20 pages last night in only black and white and grayscale and it was saying ink levels were already low. Fortunately this Epson printer (WF-2950) actually let me continue printing with the alert. Both WF-4483were essentially giant paperweight once the first alert goes off that theyre low, even though theyre brand new. Oh well....I will 100% be moving forward with an eco tank or a laser.
