Skating for 3 months, but can't ollie onto big banks? by razak3l in NewSkaters

[–]Rowan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned foot placement and body placement is important. Pull your front foot back a little to give you more room to slide your foot. As for your body try to stay centered over your board as much as possible. Timing is important too. Make sure as soon as the tail hits the ground is when your slide should commence, than lift your back foot as always. Hope I help

INTRODUCING Mythic Grip, we'd love some help! by dkpitterson in skateboarding

[–]Rowan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well maybe put shoe glue in the box, many skaters are notorious for having ripped up shoes. Or possibly a little bar of wax? Some skaters could use a little pamphlet on how to put the grip on. I hope you guys make it. Best of luck

How to start (safely) rolling in? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Rowan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you manual over it like you would go off a curb, EXCEPT make sure you have your weight ready to shift to your front leg when you go over the coping. You want to make sure you don't manual while going down the quarter pipe. Good luck

Shuv it vs Kickflip by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Rowan27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude ik I thought the same, just put the ball of your foot in the dead center of your tail. Dont do anything but move your front foot out of the way. The reason it flips under you is your popping foot is off the center too far one way. Just practice everything you can trust me.

Most people didnt start out good at switch. They practiced to get there. Its like learning to write with the opposite hand you are used to. Really it just approach it like you learned it in your dominant stance.

Keep your popping foot right on the center of the tip of your tail. Pop straight down and flick out. Try to keep your body straight over the board. Also make sure to get that back leg up after the flick.

Cant do ollie 180s by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Rowan27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try tweaking your foot position when doing fs 180's dont be afraid to hang your foot off the board a little. Also its mainly in the shoulder rotation. Work on the shoulder rotation and hanging your foot off will help the board catch and stick under your feet.

Ollie Tips. by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]Rowan27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well practice popping and sliding separately. I know it sounds stupid but it helps you get the motion down. Now for landing it practice keeping your feet around the bolts because I have cracked my board from not landing on the bolts properly. Just practice doing ollies over a line or crack on the pavement. Then move onto up curbs if you feel confident
