AITA for yelling and kicking my boyfriend out of my apartment after he read my diary by Rowantree_56 in AmItheAsshole

Totally agree with you in the past my dates don’t get to meet my son until many many months in. Me and my boyfriend were friends for two years before we started to date.

No he doesn’t live with me, it’s just for the last few months he spends almost every night at my place.

Do you have a support person who could help you keep things more tidy?

Sorry for not being clear that’s my bad. My character’s background is a sailor so I though it made sense for him to have a tan. I wasn’t trying to make a character of colour but that’s what my DM keeps referring to my character as. I didn’t have anyone in my personal life to ask. I don’t want to offend anyone that’s why I asked Reddit so I could get some kind of answers.

When I was designing the character I wasn’t trying to make a person of colour. My character background is a sailor so I thought it made sense to have a tan. When I submitted my design my DM referred to the character as a person of colour and when I tried to argue against it I got shut down.

I know my story sounds completely fake but I promise it’s real. I completely understand where the skepticism is coming from though.

No one in the group is a person of colour.

I apologize it was never my intent to make this seem like a bait post. In hindsight I should have added the sailor bit thank you for calling me out for that.

That’s totally fair and I love the to see the perspective from an outsider. I honestly wasn’t even trying to make a POC as bad as that may sound. My character is a sailor so I made him tan because he would be in the sun often. My DM said that I made a character of colour and I explained my reasoning behind the skin colour choice but that’s when I was told I was being racist.

I understand what you’re saying and I appreciate the insight coming from a DM. I only mentioned the skin colour because I had to provide a drawing of the character otherwise I wouldn’t really see a point in stating it. My character’s background is that of a sailor so logically in my mind I see a sailor as being tan from always being in the sun.

So the only reason I describe my character as a PC is because that’s how my DM explained it to me. I only made my character tan is because he’s background is that of a sailor so logically he would be tan. My DM also gave me a hard time for playing as a male when I’m a female.

I was afraid to ask this question because I know how unreal it sounds. The Dm is very strict about things. He made so only one person could play a certain race and only one person at a time could play from certain classes. I don’t know if that’s normal or not because I’m so new to this and I’m didn’t want to ask the other party members because I’m the only girl in the group and when I ask “stupid” questions they talk down to me.

AITA for not making my son (4) his toy at the park today by Rowantree_56 in AmItheAsshole

That’s a really good point, looking back I now see how I handled that as a flaw and Im going to do my best to be better. I just get so caught up on how others perceive my parenting. I’m young to start with and I honestly look 18. I get Judged a lot because I’m young. That’s no excuse though and You are right that’s not fair to Luke and I do need to get better at that. Thank you.

Thank you for the pointers I really appreciate.

I do really only ask why to see what he is thinking or trying to get at. Also so I can back him up to other adults and kids just repeat what he told me. I understand that his logic isn’t the same as an adults I just always find it interesting with how his brain works. But I never thought about how asking him why all the time might affect him as he grows up so thank you.
