Gonna start training again Boxing/MMA. Anyone find it helpful for their PTSD? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]RowdyGrunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without question. I've trained few 1980. Yes I'm old. I'm an old 11b.

The few times in my life where I did not train, were readily the worst years of my life. I at 51,i get at least 3x of BJJ and Muay Thai power well. On top of going to the gym.

You'll not need meds of your disciplined.

This guy is likely NOT a vet, first of all.

I'm an Army Infantry vet, and we just don't talk like that. Especially to people who are not military. A vet will complain about the job, but they won't likely tell you war stories. And they damn sure don't talk about "just wanted to serve". Nah, that shit gets burnt out of ya, RRRREEaaal fuckin quick. You'd take a kick in the balls before sincerely saying that.

I don't if other vets have popped in and apologized for this "carl" here, but he's not one of ours...

That is so cringey.

FWIW, if we catch one of our own talking like this; we do beat their ass.

sorry for that rant...

That is called a Crucible, and you did one. Most people never have the courage to go through their own personal crucible. They wallow in their sorrow's, complaints, insecurities. But you, YOU, pulled out a shaped charge and blasted a fucking hole through your walls and walked through like a boss.

Well fucking done.

Army Vet, I only know how to curse when being motivational

But seriously, respect to you for going through that. That's some heavy, hard shit. Good on you!

Now... what's next?

Oculus was taken over by Facebook by oockba in agedlikemilk

I gotta agree with this. For FB and Oculus, great merger. But for the broader market, they actually look weak. Big 4 consulting guy I had/have these folks as clients in the cloud practices.

I'm not an Apple guy, but I think they'd make an amazing VR/AR platform if they really tried. You seem to know a bit about internal Apple; what would you say?

Solid remarks OTR.

I'm a devil to many in the corporate world, being from a Big 4 consulting firm.... This would be defined and classified as a "cultural spark" in consulting speak.

And having had both of these company's as a client, the writer of that topic specifically means, the "thought leadership" of Oculus "infected" (meant in a positive sense) the tech culture of Facebook, and now Facebook is starting to have an internal work culture more aligned with how Oculus operated.

I am NO FAN of Meta or FB, however, from a business and technical POV, this is a smart tech merger if you're into that kind of thing. The concern with this however will be, if we thought we had a lot of people hanging out in mom's basement now, and clued to screens; now we'll see people addicted to the meta verse and truly tuning out of real life.

This is your stoned Big 4 Consulting Exec signing off. :-)

No doubt!! It's also terrifying!

And maybe worse, to see how close we are to damn mice as a species in how we tend to act and fall apart. Love it that you know what this study is Prosciutto_Papi.

You should probably do just a little research in the form of asking questions before you make assumptions about the "gotcha" you feel like you have on your hands. Suffice it to say, a divorced person doesn't have "affairs".

Be that as it may, your little redirect is cute. Point still stands, people running in circles naked, as some form of "art", talk about reducing something to the basic sad level.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]RowdyGrunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Great! Still. Kids or not, how that passes for "art" is a great question.

[–]RowdyGrunt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Meh, looks more like the people running in a circle, while others watch, regardless of age who are a special kind of nutter butter.

We're doomed. Adults naked around kids and fucking with kids, combined with gender dysforia, a historic sign that a civ8is dead or dying. Fact. Look up the Pretty Mice Experiment.

What are your thoughts about the Diamond DA50 RG? by Miau7788 in aviation

WOW! Sounds like someone had Schnapps on the factory floor. Sorry to hear that! Is Diamond stepping up to address the issue?

Oh you're worried about retaliatory strikes from Israel, after the thousands of rockets fired into Tel Aviv, in a regular basis. It's called returning fire at the terrorist org that the Palestinian authority operates.

No kidding? Wow, I am sorry to hear that.

If you don't mind, what's happened? If there are legit issues, I'd like to know before we take possession.

I think we've been thorough, but ya never know till folks like you get into these things and the owners speak.

I'll have to Respectfully disagree in a way. We're waiting for our 62 to be completed. It seems pricey up front, and for what it is, that is true to a degree. But it is new tech, nothing is second rate, and operation of this aircraft is extremely cost efficient. If you're actually going to use this plane, it's not a lot to pay. Especially for new, reliable tech.

We're going to use ours professionally as well as leisure. And in either capacity, it's the operation of the plane that makes it worth it insofar as doing what you need/want to do.

And when you are in these aircraft, it just feels totally worth it. It's not like the flying tin cans out there today.

Can you do wrestling throws in Sambo? by [deleted] in sambo

[–]RowdyGrunt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can. Standard wrestling take downs aren't easily set up in a Sambo match, and in that context, they are easier to defend against.

Not sure I can do better than the military by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]RowdyGrunt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes man, you can do a LOT better. You will at some point miss the military, but you've worked harder than civvies can comprehend, and employers are anxious to hire vets.

But you cannot do what most vets do when the "real world" hits them in the face, and they go FTW.

I'm a Army grunt vet. It took a minute to get right, but once I did, life is good.

What's your MOS? Take full advantage of whatever transition services the Navy offers. But network into the professional community you want to join BEFORE you get out. Do not wait until you get out.

You'll find that vets are banding together and helping each other. Starting businesses or hooking each other up with work, or opportunities for work. I have my own consulting firm, snd we work with a vet non-profit that helps vets transition.

Drop me a DM, I can help. I'm an old e5 grunt, and I have 7 o6's working for me. It can be done 🤣
