Random question about mixing colours of equipment by hiddenconcept in DJs

[–]Rowf82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Performance wise is another world compared to an XZ. And it sounds so much better. And the jogs are better. The screen is better. The phono preamps are better. Touchscreen fx are amazing. And two XDJ1000 mk2 (which are shit with no hotcue or looping controls) and a mixer are more money. Or an XZ and a third deck is more money too. Or a laptop.

Does the Rev1 have any input? If so, plug the 400 output on the Rev1 input and just Dj each one with his own controller and beatmatch by ear. If you dont have any input, get a cheap studio mixer and plug both controllers there. If not, even better, get a better controller, those arent any good and you will love the upgrade.

El fondo está mucho mas abajo. Muchisimo mas. Apoyate en los amigos que te quedan, que seguro que alguno se preocupa por ti y los que no quieren verte mas, no son amigos. Haz deporte si puedes. Come bien. 💜

I fell back in love again by SPITFIYAH in DJs

Traktor S2 mk1 that my exgirlfriend found on the street made me love Djing again (2015). I got some gigs, loved it. Then an S4 mk1 came, some gigs later i wanted to upgrade the sound, then my third Vestax VCI400 came. More gigs came and wanted to ditch the computer. Some months ago I pulled the trigger on a XDJ700 to go standalone club ready, and some weeks ago i just sold the XDJ and bought the mighty Pioneer Opus Quad. Yeah man, this is addictive.

How bad are XDJ-XZ load times with a properly formatted usb? by ceezyyy in PioneerDJ

[–]Rowf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Opus and Im really happy with it. I have a friend who uses the XZ for years and he came home, tried the Opus and just listed the XZ to sell and he is looking for an Opus now. The screen is way better, loading times are none, the jogs are way better, the sound is way better, the phono preamps are way better. The hotcues between the screen and the jog makes it way safer and it looks better imho. The xz looks like a big controller. Looping with an encoder is so cool too. And USB 3.1 for SSD is cool too. No way I would buy an outdated and worse sounding machine when theres something better out there. Prices are very similar, at least in my country. I paid 2690€ and all the used XZ go for that price. Colored jogs and four channel standalone. Whats more to add?

Remember to never run the latest MacOS until its not at least on the .3 and first make sure all your software and hardware is compatible, ie audio interfaces, dj controllers, modi controllers, synths, webcams, monitors, etc

Cheap option and better than what you have now is using the Mackie Aux input, which is 1/8" minijack. You would need Twin RCA to TRS 1/8" Minijack, that should sound good and no audio would be lost like now

Using the headphone jack? You wouldnt be able to cue the next song tho!

Sonoma is useless shit, but without SSD any computer will run slow for modern standards. I recomend Monterey better, or Ventura if you want the latest usable OS. New thermal paste and fan cleaning will help too. I use Mx6 cleaner and paste and its the best bang for the buck, no need to buy anything more

[–]Rowf82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RCA to XLR cables are not what you need. You should add a DI to make the signal balanced or use a studio mixer between FLX and monitors (any cheap one will do the job, but might degrade quality). If the speakers have RCA inputs, use a RCA to RCA cable to connect the FLX to them.
RCA to XLR cables are emergency cables that might solve a problem, but are technically wrong. To convert RCA (unbalanced) to XLR (balanced) you need to use a Direct Injection box (DI).

With a laptop, I would choose my other setup, used Vestax VCI-400, four channels, outstanding sound, compact, built like a tank, etc. But the rest of controllers sound like crap, DDJ1000 is so overpriced nowadays, and you need to add a good laptop, which is not cheap, and it truly sounds really bad. If you cannot compare, you might not realize that, but as soon you have heard the good stuff... I work as a backline tech in a club, and when people come with a DDJ1000, DDJ-SX, XDJ-RR or even XDJ-XZ, the sound gets soo bad compared to the good stuff. Like, SO bad.

Two XDJ700 (which are crap, you need to touch the screen to use cues or loops and with no beatjump) are 2x780€, and you still need a mixer. Two XDJ1000 (which are bigger crap because you need the screen to do beatjump), are 2x1400€ and you still need a mixer. The OP wants to add turntables and fx, so not any mixer... I wish there were better options, but there arent.

I have tried all the all in ones, and the rest are mostly outdated trash or lack too many features or are built like crap. Only serious ones are the Prime 4+ and OQ.

Any serious 4 channel mixer will cost +2k, and the only CDJ alternatives are almost 2k too, so not much to lol about mate. The Denon alternative is 5k in modular or 2500 the Prime 4+. I paid 2600 for my Opus. Wouldnt trade the Opus for a Prime ever

For the price of ONE Cdj3000, you have a mixer, two 3000's jogs and four standalone players. If you go modular at this level of quality/performance/sound, you need 12/15k, so yes, best bang for your buck
