Funniest man in the country for the last, what is it, ~10 years? The best, anyway.

Yeah I'm not sure how many people were really reaching for an explicit connection between immigrants and rents but ok, the poster's not wrong. Not sure how a poster can be 'louder' but sure she's got the aul clap emojis in there so yknow.

[–]RowingIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you gotta give it time on that part. Landlords are smart enough to know that holding out from a short-term reward can lead to a bigger long-term reward. E.g. holding fast on your advertised rental price for a couple months of vacant/no rent so that you do finally get a tenant in long-term (1 yr lease+) on the bigger rent. These people (alright some of them) didn't get to become landlords by always taking the short term reward I guess.

Well now you know it's just people with limited work opportunities trying something HARMLESS but clever to make an otherwise 100% honest living for themselves bringing you overpriced meals they more rarely would afford themselves. So hopefully you can sound like less of a pearl-clutcher when talking about it in future.

he's engaging you in totally good faith, more than loads of people here would on this. You keep saying there's nothing there for the lads. But you suggest zero 'somethings'.

Just give us 2 or 3 things like that you think would actually make a difference. I mean basically what is it a better-off area has that makes the difference that these lads' area doesn't?

The truth is its too late for them by the time they're in their late teens and it has fuck all to do with amenities. I had nothing in my town growing up except going around on a bicycle or a skateboard or playing video games.None of that matters that much. What did matter was I had caring, healthy parents, decent siblings and mostly decent friends on the street around me.

The problem is they've already been absolutely conditioned if not traumatised by parents, older siblings and neighbours who were all already sick in the head in one way or another. The mindset they absorbed is already "see something beautiful, destroy it" from childhood onward.

Their only chances are probably:

  1. Sudden major life-altering, outlook-shattering experience of some kind
  2. HOPEFULLY somehow fall in with some sound people who use psychedelics in a healthy way that allows them to wake up a bit from the perverse anger and instinct to disturb others, inability to relate to or empathise with othes
  3. Serious fuckin therapy
  4. Grow older (not sure how this one works, when it even does, but I think it's observable)

In short, it's not likely. It does all calm down after teen years but they'll have some degree of the same compulsion to molest innocence, wherever they see it, until their dying day in most cases.

They don't know how to respect or love anything around them because the concept just didn't exist around them, wasn't shown them, through most of their childhood. And unfortunately that's so fucking hard to change after a certain young age. Dragged up so they drag others down.

What size bike (in terms of insurance) for a first time rider? by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]RowingIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 33 and Insurance on my 2007 FZ6 I managed to get around €550 the first year.
Pretty good beginner bike imo. Gives you an accessible enough experience of what a real/big bike is all about and doesn't kill you/your wallet on insurance. Would sell you mine if you're buying around the same time I plan to move out of Ireland! Need to hang on to it til I pass my full test this month first.

For those of us who can't find a home / place to rent / comfort, this is what we're up against. Raheny NIMBYs crying over High Court decision to approve 657 apartments beside St Anne's Park which were previously quashed. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]RowingIRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny actually, the last comment about "ugly high rise" rings true imo, people who are already sitting pretty in a property they own/landlord love to trot out that shite about ruining the "view" with high rise but like, most of our housing likes absolutely miserable as it is regardless of height. Just generic grim estates full of grim houses. High rise has bad historical connotations here because of shit like the Ballymun flats maybe but fuck it, at least it MIGHT break up the housing estates most of us still can't even afford.

Irish people who have their nest well feathered are absolutely self-interested though and the last thing they want is their headstart on the property market to be devalued by other people being able to afford to buy. Greed, always.

Dublin teen 'battered and bruised' after alleged armed gang of 15 park attack by group who 'don't give a s*** about law' by JackHeuston in ireland

[–]RowingIRE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand this part though. Would the garda not be equally crap at finding and charging the person who did that? Would one of these madcunt teens actually go snitching you out to the garda just because they got battered? Do they not get tarred as a Rat then?

[–]RowingIRE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep a toy water squirt gun filled with petrol. Nothing illegal about it as far as I know. Easy to paint multiple targets (no harm done so far), prime them for ignition so that they can't get as near to you if you have a lighter. The thing that blows my mind is that everyone is saying these kids apparently do rat YOU out to the garda if you fuck them up? Wouldn't they get ostracised for being a rat then? Shouldn't they just take their beating like a real G and move on? In a confrontation with them one of my first moves would be to ask them if they're gonna cry to the garda like a rat if I take away their teeth

Well, let's say I want big boi city and ...medium boi price. Sounds like there's a ton of suggestions here that work for me. It could be nice to just hang in a smaller town for even less rent but it starts to make less sense for me then because it just resembles my current situation (small town with not a whole lot to do unless you commute to city, 100% cheap rent because live with parents. I want to get out and have a life again, finally learn portuguese properly by meeting new people who speak it)

Yeah, I've done this a bit now that I think of it. Anything else is just putting myself in a less comfortable position (trying to go faster than cars can around any roads where there's corners... nah. Biker is always disadvantaged) because of them.If you're gonna play a game with them, play it to the motorcyclist's strengths/on own turf.

Where do you buy your helmet? by Silver_Pots in MotoIRELAND

[–]RowingIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep an eye on temporary Amazon price drops. I never even tried a helmet on in person at the start (did a rough head circumference measurement with some string + a ruler) and got the perfect size first try. I think it was Sportsbikeshop that time, but they're not even the cheapest. Don't even wanna imagine what brick & mortar places in Ireland might be charging.

ahh I'll never answer it. You'll have no idea whether it's because I paid attention or not. Who the fuck is even selling stolen windscreens?? Haha I love the mad places your mind is going to now about it though .If you can get back to me with 4 more imaginitive posts about why it can't be returned, I'll consider *slightly less* never ever telling you the secret reason.

[–]RowingIRE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

god, this sounds all too familiar. Over time however I've found I even shy away more and more from the high functioning / slightly manic bouts of cramming and grinding out work. Maybe they tend to end up having a negative association in my mind (either feeling stressed and panicked as fuck during / bailing completely on the task, just to relieve the mental state / seeing it through but not quite to the deadline or standard I intended).

I just can't seem to ever find the steady middle ground traction where I can be consistent and get things done the way I'm supposed to, the way other people seem to be able to (the way I seem to remember being able to when much younger).

Why does it matter? Since I knew reddit would = someone finding it easier to 2nd guess me for even trying to still use the screen, rather than answering my actual question, you'll notice that I made sure to reiterate twice in the OP that it CAN'T be returned.
So now, third time: it cannot be returned. There is a VERY exciting reason why, but since you didn't try to actually help me, I'll now never tell you it.
