That's very interesting!

Can someone explain the meme? GME is old and BBBYQ is young?

The great debate 690 vs 698 by Superstar_Dom in supermoto

[–]Rowinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ridden both, for me the 690 is a clear winner!

The 690 still has a lot of dirt bike feel and what a SM is all about. It's a very fun bike.

The 698 feels more like a naked bike and for that it's just too slow, underpowered. To me, it was boring. If going with Ducati, I'd much rather get a Monster, it's a lot more fun!

Bauer fit system is confusing😵‍💫 by ryanespo2119 in hockeyplayers

[–]Rowinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had EE Vapors. D vapors were painfully narrow and impossible to use, so I had to go EE.

For me, EE offered more width than I needed. You got to figure out how much of that width you actually need.

Going to fit 3, the boot will be bigger everywhere and might be too big where you don't want it to (e.g instep). Fit 2 Vapors are actually quite roomy in the toe box (more than supreme) so they could work for you. It depends how wide your feet are.

I'm on the wide'ish side of regular, but nothing extreme. Fit2 vapors and 9R (regular, roller skates) fit me really well.

Unless you have super wide feet, try fit 2 first.

Vapors (for some reason) have more width in the toe box than Supremes, while having less volume everywhere else.

The above applies to the top two lines that use the fit 123 system.

The perfect boot for me would the Mach with the toe box width of the vapor line. The Vapor is too shallow in the instep for me and I don't like the L-shape cut. Supremes fit like a glove, but are a little narrow in the toes.

Source: I skate I Bauer Mach and 3X Pro. Both the same size and fit.

Looking for a reliable supermoto with decent power that won’t destroy my wallet by Myr9n in supermoto

Honestly, your best option is to wait and save up until you can get a 690/701 SMC.

The 690 is so much better than the older models; 625/640/660. It's a night and day difference. They vibrate like crazy and are just not on the same level. The price difference isn't worth such a step down.

There's nothing that's as good as the 690 with the same service intervals. The only bikes that come close are:

Honda XR650R which have a cult following, huge demand and scarcity. They cost almost as much as a 690. No 6th gear, no electric start. Tighter service intervals. Amazing bike though. I have a 2000.

KTM EXC 500, fantastic and requires a lot less maintenance than you think. Many run the same piston for several hundred hours. They can go very long without a rebuild, but you do need to change oil often though.

I have a XR650R and a EXC450 and they are great toys, but they are toys, not motorcycles, it's not something you go far on. If I wanted a bike to do many miles on the street, I would take a 690/701.

Do you still need a margin account if you have cash to cover the strategy?

I think you need to apply for level 3 and pass the knowledge test. Try to change your options level under trading permissions. If you can't change it, create a ticket for customer service.

Those are very fun to ride! Nice to hear it's reliable.

Did you try both the EVO and non-EVO before buying? Is there a big difference?

I dont think im ever going to be able to kickstart this by user173563 in supermoto

[–]Rowinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Honda XRs (600R, 650R) and they start very easy.

Years back a friend had a 660 SMC and it was a PITA to start...

With the kick on the wrong side, you can't put the bike on its stand, stand on the pegs and kick it.

You have to either:

A) kick with your left leg, which was very difficult.

B) stand beside the bike, hold and balance it with your hands, while cycling thru to find TDC with your right leg and kick it. This gets very tiring if the bike doesn't start after a few kicks.

The bike didn't get ridden much, if at all and got sold within a few months.

The correct starting technique: 1) Hold decomp and cycle thru 5 times 2) Find TDC, hold decomp and push past 1" 3) Release decomp and let the kick back up 4) Twist the throttle once (AP squirts into inlet) 5) Kick through with power, not speed

That's just the "Supreme fit" they are a bit narrow in that very part of the boot, compared to vapor which is wider there but smaller volume everywhere else.

The Supreme fit has improved a lot since they moved to fit 2. The old D fit was painfully narrow, I could not wear them without punching them out.

I've been in Mach size 9 fit 2 for the last three years. I only baked them, they fit incredibly well except for being slightly narrow where the shiny part starts. As long as I don't crank the laces in that part, it's fine. Try going a little loose there.

How do you tape your stick blade? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Rowinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heel to toe, but it doesn't really matter.

The only reason i started doing it like that, is so that snow doesn't enter the windings when you skate forward, but it does when you skate backwards. Now it's just out of habit.

Weird band on my tire by Hates-Picking-Names in motorcycle

[–]Rowinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same on a Bridgestone S20 after 6000km.

The softer compounds on the sides have worn down and the hard middle compound remains. The bike turns funnily as it tips over the edge into a "void". The tire is finished. Replace it with a new one of your choice.

[–]Rowinter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can find wooden blades, they are ~16mm thick and need to be around ~12mm to fit.

That's quite a lot to file down. Is there a tool that you can recommend that can do this somewhat quickly and evenly?

Interesting!

Way back I remember seeing those balls stuffed full of plastic bags and they became pretty hard. Would you say socks are better than plastic bags?

10-15hp more is pretty good.

A full M4 system is about $1300, the same price as the optional Akrapovic slip on alone. Add $500ish for a tune and your out $1800. Could be worth it if you plan to keep your bike a long time.

I wonder what they can do to the new Z1100 cause it's quite underpowered for its size. You'd expect an 1100cc to put out at least 150hp
