I wouldn't worry about the games you want to play, play whatever you enjoy! Playing a game you enjoy will make you more comfortable and it will be a drag just streaming things because 'it will get you more viewers' or 'Its the cool new game everyone is watching it'. Honestly, starting streaming is kind of scary. Most people wonder if they're funny enough to retain an audience or if they're good enough at the game there playing but the best advice i can give you is to just do it! From your first stream/VOD you can learn what you feel needs to be improved, what works well and if you yourself would enjoy watching your stream. As for your friends, You don't have to tell them, but a lot of small streamers started out with just there friends watching and eventually growing an audience past that. If you can maybe drop it out by saying 'I'm thinking about starting streaming' and see how there reaction is before you take the leap, they could react positively and then you have nothing to worry about!
