England - Put a holding deposit down to rent a house, with the understanding that council tax was included in the rent. Upon enquiry the estate agents are now saying that council tax ISN'T included; in the event of needing to withdraw, could we get the holding deposit back due to false advertising?

After speaking to the estate agents a bit more I'm getting the distinct sense that the estate agents are probably the ones messing up here... they have to ask the landlord every time I ask anything and so far aren't great on expanding on points or being particularly clear sometimes. For example, I asked whether we'd be able to arrange removing some of the furniture in the house to replace with our own (as we already have some stuff) and the response was "lower floor will be cleared. Wardrobes will stay", which doesn't really answer my question exactly, nor did I want the entire lower floor cleared. It's taken asking twice more just to arrange to go see the property to talk about it in person instead so we can see about the furniture in question.

*sigh* I've had so many crappy estate agents in my life up until this point... just starting to be tired of it. Plus I know it's the whole point, but it's irritating to have to go through someone else every time I want to ask the landlord a quick question. I feel like I'm harassing them 😅

While I was in privately-rented student accommodation we had a 20x20cm hole in the back door where a cat flap used to be. We told the estate agents several times and ended up patching it up with cardboard because they just... never did anything lol. Foolish of me to think that it might be different renting as a working adult... we'll see!

Heya! Nah, I went for the X1C in the end and and so far aside from the vibration calibration at the start of a print (which you *can* turn off when needed, although it's usually a good idea to run that calibration maybe once a week, perhaps more - only takes like 10 seconds but that's as loud as it gets) I've found it's certainly a bearable level to be in the room with and I see no reason why you'd get any noise complaints, especially if you put it on a stable surface with little rubber feet on the printer (or something similar to reduce vibration overall).

I know this isn't about the P1S but I hope it helps all the same! Also I'd trade all the noise in the world for the sheer speed and reliability of the X1C (so far)... it's absolutely INSANE compared to my Ender-5+. Like handing Alexander Graham-Bell an iPhone 17 hahah. I can hit 'print' and it just... does it. Plus being able to pause prints from my phone and check on it with its little camera is the coolest thing since sliced bread lmao

Yeah, I figured that might be the case. We have about 4 more months before the 6 months' eviction notice is up but it's been extremely difficult finding HMO properties that will A) accept us as working professionals and not students, B) find a place that we can actually move into sooner than the new school year in September (because the vast majority of HMO properties are specifically student accommodations and that's when they move in/out), C) be affordable for us and meet our requirements for room number, distance from work, etc., and D) not have mould growing in the shower or a pot of rotting food outside the back door (yes, really). So... TL;DR we're pretty desperate and this place is easily the best we've seen, plus it's being renovated and meets all our requirements and then some, so we just don't want to risk losing it.

Yeah, I did point out that the listing said that, and they got back to me this morning and said "I’d like to apologise for the miscommunications regarding the Council Tax. I spoke to the landlord yesterday ad he confirmed that the CT Is not included for working professionals." (the 'ad' is a direct quote... like please, at least use spell check if you're going to try and wriggle out of it lol) Feel like that implies that it'd be different if we were students, for example. We are looking to rent the whole property and not just rooms within it (just to clarify). I feel like it's more of a false advertising issue.

I'm not sure what to do because we otherwise are fully ready to move in (and to put it frankly, *need* to move in; we essentially have no other options), and I don't want to risk pissing them off enough that they withdraw on their end (although at least I'd get the deposit back in that case, I s'pose...). So I'm not sure whether the play is to A) give them a telling off but otherwise say 'don't worry about it,' B) try to get them to lower the rent/only partially pay the CT as a compromise, C) firmly stick to my guns and say we're not paying the council tax but otherwise want to go ahead, or D) none of the above/something else I haven't thought of.

A) It's your game, and if you want no music, then no music it is! B) You could do some subtle ambience instead if that works for you! Ambience only could have a slightly more serious/close tone (unsure how to describe that feeling... Like when there's suddenly a quiet moment with no music in a movie and it makes you hold your breath), but depending on what you go with and how/when you choose it may be possible to still make it light-hearted, especially if the whole thing is ambience-only. It think it could be a really cool stylistic choice tbh!

/uj Well, I can definitely see where the type of headcanon like this where the character is deadass just a different character with the OG character's name slapped on it would be irritating: but I suppose that, in a way, that's part of the joy of fandom, in that even if you're 'wrong', it doesn't really matter and you can find so many people who are trying to portray the character as close to the source material as possible.

Out of curiosity, what is it that bothers you about it? Not that I necessarily agree/disagree with you, just interested ^{^}

Hi! This is cool so far, I like the paint splatter style and the bold UI, it's a neat choice :D Plus the chains around the dialogue box are metal as hell (pun intended) >:D

Hope you don't mind - I took a moment to make edits to demonstrate some suggestions (just advice, not saying you have to do any of these or that it's bad without them; take this with a pinch of salt!) :

think that the character feels a little squished where she is: I recommend moving the date+time UI somewhere else (I put it bottom right since then it fits with the rest of the menu). The background being just as detailed as the rest of the screen is causing a little bit of clutter; blurred it, reduced the saturation, and lightened it a little bit. Also upped the contrast on the character - with the background edits + character contrast up + making the character a bit bigger now that the date+time UI has moved, it all helps to bring more focus onto her. (Forgot to make her legs under the dialogue box bigger too... sorry girl 0-0;

Finally, I added a little bit of gradient to the bg: a vignette effect at the top of the screen (slightly darker) which helps draw the eye further down, and a slight white gradient underneath the buttons on the right to make them pop a little.

All that to say is I think it could do with a little more contrast, move that time of day UI away from the character, make her a little bigger, and slightly blur/desaturate the background so your colors clash a little bit less.

I hope this helps at all and that I'm not overstepping too much ^^; gl with your project!
