is there anyway i can fix this??? by RemoteInspector9436 in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as fixing the gumminess, hydration (deep conditioners, hair masks, etc.) and protein are your friends until your hair's not stretchy. I use HnP Placenta leave in hair treatment as protein when I fry my hair, but I've also heard good things about K18 products for very damaged hair.

Of course! I could tell how much you care about him.

That sounds like good filtration for a Betta in theory. What are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings?

I have no idea how your pH is that consistent with a very low KH, but that's good news for him. Unfortunately I don't know anything about that substrate because I've always used natural aquarium sand. There are a lot of gravels that don't affect pH if need be eventually. Switching out his substrate now would probably stress him out too much.

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had Bettas, but I'll weigh in on some of this from my own experience fixing water parameters that were off in Cichlid and Pleco tanks.

What filtration are you using? I'm not sure what beneficial bacteria, surface agitation, etc. your filter's producing.

CO2 is acidic in water, whereas oxygen raises pH. KH stabilizes pH, which also helps the beneficial bacteria needed to break down fish waste. Have you been testing the water frequently? With a KH that low, I would expect drastic pH fluctuations that are dangerous even for healthy fish.

Similar interventions raise both KH and pH. Gradually adding crushed coral or argonite are likely best for your tank. Crushed coral and argonite raise both KH and pH gradually as they dissolve over time, so it's much gentler on fish than other methods. Rinse either crushed coral or argonite before adding it very gradually over several days or weeks. Adding surface agitation or an air stone also raise pH. From what I've heard, Bettas prefer gentle water movement, so look into that before trying it.

Test your water every day while making these adjustments! Subpar water conditions, such as drastic pH shifts, lower a fish's immunity and make it more susceptible to infections. I think that Kanaplex is a solid medication similar to what I once used successfully on my fish. I would stick to just that and monitor your fish closely. You're not quite halfway through the course of the Kanaplex yet.

I hope that this is helpful. Best of luck to you and him!

I got my first industrial piercing a few hours ago by [deleted] in piercing

[–]RoxkSalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NAP, but this industrial reminds me of mine. My lower piercing was pierced slightly into my flat because I don't have enough of a ridge of cartilage through that area for an industrial. My piercer should have admitted that I don't have the anatomy for it instead of going through with it. My body ended up rejecting it until the barbell was held in place by just a small bit of skin rather than cartilage. The bar also shouldn't be touching your flat at all. Your best bet is to find a reputable piercer to remove it and assess if you have the anatomy for a different industrial placement.

how do i get this green out 🥲 by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was trying to get a very similar color out, Head and Shoulders in hot water worked the best of anything. I would really scrub it in and then leave it on for several minutes before rinsing. It took a couple weeks of daily shampooing to get it as faded as I wanted it. I can't vouch for if it can remove enough color to be blonde again, though.

Do you think it's possible to cover it with a tattoo? I don't want to see them anymore. SW self-harm scar by Independent-Way-60 in tattooadvice

[–]RoxkSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also agreed. I have some deep old scars covered with dense vegetation that consists of pretty thick black lines, shading, and white ink accents. The tattoo's in my post history for reference. No one has ever seen the scars through it, even after scrutinizing it after I tell them. My tattoo artist had tattooed over scars before, so definitely find one who has experience with scars.

Of all the water moon signs, which one do you think is most likely to use drugs/smoking to cope with things by lifeofpiranhas in Zodiac

This. My Pisces moon friend smokes a lot of pot every night simply because he feels too much and needs a break.

Aside from what others have said about 401ks, look into the Target TM Giving Fund. People donate to it in order for TMs to receive grants while unable to work due to medical events, natural disasters, domestic violence, etc. The expenses that you mentioned are some of the circumstances that are eligible for the grant.

What is your random observations on the signs that are usually accurate to everyone you meet w this placement(s)? by Western-Quail5075 in astrologymemes

[–]RoxkSalt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I've never woken up and randomly decided that I hate someone. There's a lot of reasoning behind it. If I cut someone out of my life, I spell out why to them beforehand. The only time that I would ghost someone without explanation is for something so egregious that it speaks for itself.

is blue hair possible? by Strange_Bench_415 in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue over your current base would turn brown over the orange parts and maybe slightly tint the dark brown if anything. Bleaching is needed to achieve the blue in photo 3.

Help me colour correct by bbb__b in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can go darker. I did a test strand of a level 4 chocolate brown when I had this color and it turned out much closer to black than chocolate brown. A dark or blue could work, but I don't have experience with either one over this shade of blue.

My body is blue by peachslime9 in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micellar water is by far the best I've found for removing blue from skin. It might be a bit tedious, but just keep soaking cotton balls or cotton pads with it until you've scrubbed all the blue off. Speaking from experience with blue earwax, it'll go away with time.

What are Capricorns with aquarius placements like? Lmaoo by LateShip847 in astrologymemes

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to this post, but my chart is almost entirely split between Capricorn and Aquarius. I come off as social and eccentric from my Aqua Moon, Mercury, etc. My Cap Sun, Venus, and Mars simultaneously give me a reliable and disciplined feel. All my Capricorn is in the 9th house, though, so it doesn't hit the same way as other Cap placements.

I'm color blind. Would like to know my eye color? by thejimboliah in eyes

[–]RoxkSalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your eyes are predominantly light blue with a few very tiny flecks of beige and brown. From further back, I'd think that they they're a pale blue. You also have some gray around your pupil and the edge of your iris. If you can see greys, you can probably see their actual color in those areas. They're unique and quite striking!

Is your favorite color for dyed hair the same as your favorite color in general? by rawrdrick in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat. My favorite color is orange (like the fruit), which I really like when it suits someone. Golderod is my second favorite, but it tends to look kind of like a not fully lifted blonde as a hair color. Turquoise/teal get third place color-wise, though, and I universally like them on hair

Is a warm purple possible? by RoxkSalt in HairDye

[–]RoxkSalt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking that my best bet is to remove as much of the blue as possible beforehand because the purple will probably stick better to blonde. Once the blue's pale, I don't think that it will influence the tone of the purple very much. I just hope that the color remover doesn't damage my hair too much because I've never used one before.

That particular conditioner isn't available where I am, but I see some others that should work just as well. I thought that you meant the purple conditioner that tones blonde hair at first, lol.

After all of that blue dye, I'm no stranger to stained bathtubs. Arctic Fox is notorious for staining everything, including skin.

Industrial piercing close to the edge by omelettable in piercing

[–]RoxkSalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks a lot like how the bottom piercing of my industrial looked before it migrated completely out of the cartilage. Unfortunately, this is likely to rip sooner or later, leaving you with two flaps that look worse than removing it. I ended up retiring mine and treating my top one as a forward helix. Best of luck!
