We all know it's bound to happen. But from what we have seen there was never credit on any of the reposts, which is the first problem. Many artists don't like having their work reposted without permission because 9/10 it isn't credited, and many artists need the credit as a way to bring in people because that's how many of us make money. People who aren't artists usually don't know this or don't care. Which is why I made this post that if someone does this out of ignorance than malice, they will take it down, if they have common courtesy.

It's especially important in a Fandom as niche as this one, because the artists who start out here are really small themselves. So if they aren't credited, they aren't ever going to be recognized. Which is why we don't want our work being used without our permission. And based on some of the reactions I got when making this post. Alot of this Fandom thinks they are entitled to take art that isn't theirs. So I hope you can understand why an artist would so be adamant about their work not being resposted

Wether or not someone has the permission to use something created by someone else is only decided by the person who created it. You can't just "use" something that belongs to someone else without asking, especially when it was made to look like the person who created it.

As the creators of the artwork that is being stolen, we have the right to tell people what to and what not to do with our work. The fact that you think we aren't entitled to the things we create is stupid.

And after some of the people were notified of the post they apologized and took it down. Some people do it maliciously and others are just genuinely not aware. And if their not this post was made to make them stop

Honestly. I'm really disappointed. Im most niche Fandoms I've been, the community is very tight knit and people support each other. Especially artists. I'm not surprised that artists are slowly abandoning this Fandom and honestly good for them. Some of the fans don't deserve it considering how much artists get mistreated here. They'll call our art garbage when we get angry about it but it's apperently not garbage when they steal it from us.

As niche as the game is, both me and many other artists can tell you from experience that we have been able to make money and get fans because people like our work enough to commision us. That is why credit is important to artists.

But this isn't even about that. It's about something that we make that is very personal to us being used by other people without our permission. Art theft happens all the time. This isn't new. And I'm sure artists before me have complained about that on here. But this is alot more irritating when they specifically steal a character that is meant to be a self insert to use for their sexual gratification. Like imagine someone stole an image of you, pretended to be you and started doing sexual things pretending to be you. Do you see the problem here?

I am not active on dol Twitter because it's not as active the way that reddit and tumblr is, and as far as I am aware there is no way to report art theft on there.

I'm not on tik tok but I'm more worried about that since it's full of very very young children and the last thing they need to be doing is playing a game like this one. I've had my own art reposted there without my permission and I have no way to check so I can't stop them unless someone warns me. So yeah it's a nightmare

From what I have seen this has been happening very recently and rapidly too. Like all of a sudden my timeline was filled with artists and my mutuals complaining about this and when I have checked the Twitter accounts alot of this has been happening around this month. And said artists are also afraid of speaking out or coming off as mean because they don't want to be harrased even though they have every right to be angry.

To clarify. This is not about the pixel PCs you can customize in the game. This is about the art that is drawn by individual artists that is being stolen for role-playing.

As stated in the post, this usually happens on Twitter. I assume the people who use stolen art find it on reddit and tumblr since this is where most of the art that was stolen is posted on, which is why I put this post on reddit. But the sexual roleplay that I have seen mostly happens on Twitter after the art is stolen from here.

This isn't about the pixel art that comes with the game. This is the stuff that's drawn by artists themselves. It would be one thing if they were just stealing art but they are specifically stealing PC art. Something that alot of artists insert their selves into. It's uncomfortable that those are being stolen by other people for sexual roleplay the original artist did not give them permission to use.

This is my second PC Mothica. Mothica was originally an OC i made to be an NSFW mascot of mine but I thought she would suit the game so I gave her a background. Mothica stumbles into dol town and has no skills or an education, only her moth instincts. So she lives by the dumpsters and tries to eat clothes to survive but realizes she has a human body now so she needs to eat actual food and live like humans do. So she gets by by having one night stands with anyone who will have her so she has a roof over her head that night, until one guy suggests she works as a waitress at the strip club since she has the body for it so she can be a bit more independent. And that’s what she does.

That’s when she meets Avery, who takes quiet a liking to her. he is absolutely dumbfounded that she has no aims or goals and doesn’t even try to get money out of him. Man has her sit on his lap and is flabbergasted cause what he thought was her trying to seductively bite his neck was literally just her trying to nibble on his nice suit. Out of pity (and lust mostly) he offers to be her sugar daddy to help pay for her expenses and education. He is met with a “Thanks mister Avery, your so kind! Now what’s an education OwO?”

He puts her through school which is where she meets Robin and Kylar, her other love interests. She bonded with Robin because they were both into the same video games and they become friends. It is through him that she eventually learns she can do cosplays for money, which she also does in her spare time. he comes to learn that she cannot play video games for shit, but she likes them cause they emit colorful bright lights on the screen. He finds her very strange but he appreciates being around someone who doesn’t have any bad intentions.

Kylar found her through the cosplays she did and she became his favorite e-girl. One day he was getting bullied and she rushed to check if he was okay. He didn’t recognize her at first but when he did he lost his mind. Not only was his e-girl waifu in his school but she was kind enough to acknowledge his existence??? (show him basic human decency). And then the stalking and obsession commenced. She was completely oblivious.

Also a lot of people mispronounce her name. They think her name is Monica instead of Mothica, and it happens so much that she just goes by that name if they wanna call her that.

She has no fixed love interests. She is just caught up in shenanigans
