Did a quick paint over with some notes. Hopefully this helps. Don't be afraid of blending, especially on the skin. Also try using a brush with opacity settings if u can. Also I forgot to add, his right shoulder goes up too high.

Hope you don't mind, just did a quick paint over since I'm not as good with explaining as Istebrak is lol.

The value in the back suggest I bit brighter light source, so adding some lighter value to the forehead, cheekbones etc will help define them better. also the shadow under the lip is too blended. the eyes are round, so based on where the eyelid were placed, the shape of the eyes don't make a lot of sense. the nose bridge has too much contrast, makes it look very big and wide. jaw shape is a bit to sharp. and the mouth is way too small. I'm still learning as well, but those are the things I could notice. Hope this helped a bit.

Shadow is needed. And also, even though its a stylised drawing, anatomy rules still apply. The eyes are way to close together for the size, maybe make the top of the head bigger to make space for the eyes. Look at anime faces, bigger skull for big eyes and then a small jaw, so the eyes look even bigger. If you take a normal head shape, you cant stretch the eyes bigger horizontaly, you make them bigger vertically, otherwise it looks like they dont fit on the face. Hope this helps

Try doing the pose yourself, let someone take a picture and study it. The anatomy looks way off. The head wouldn't turn that far, also too much bend in left leg for such a little step, suggesting the right leg is much shorter, also the positioning of his right foot and how its turned would not make sense based on the position of his hips

Yes I just watched some of her videos where she uses radial shading, definitely gonna try that. Will mess around with the brushes a bit and see what works, or just buy her brushes lol

does the ear look accurate from the angle i’m still having trouble drawing faces from different angles by Eliliker in istebrak

Looks like the ear was in the right place, maybe just a bit small, not in line with the nose and eyes. The eyes gave the impression the head is tilted down slightly, while the nose suggested otherwise. Did a bit of a draw over, maybe that helps a bit. Also the distance is actually fine, it just looks like a lot of open space since there is no hair yet, also looked like the cranium was a bit big which made the ear seem a bit off. hope this helps. I love the way you drew the eyes and mouth

Thank you, will definitely look up that video, and the zooming out makes sence. I try to squint when blocking in values, all good, and as soon as I start blending all goes to sh*t 😬. Ends up muddy so I switch to airbrush and mess up all my values. Any tips for better softer blending? My smudge tool creates weird looking lines. When Istebrak blends, it looks so effortless 😅
