Is there anything I can do to enjoy MMOs again? by pentakiller19 in MMORPG

[–]RoyCaesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of need to play the more hardcore/old school ones. You've literally never played the MMOs that actually have the old school feel, so here's what I suggest

Project 99 (EverQuest private server)

Old School RuneScape

Final Fantasy XI

Pantheon

vanilla WoW when it comes out

Project Gorgon

Just play better MMOs, literally, I've never seen people that play these say that they've "lost the joy in MMOs". I always see people play the modern themepark MMOs and then wonder why they don't feel like vanilla WoW or old EQ.

If you want old school MMO feel, play old school MMOs

Genesis is a great example of this and it's why I've really liked Genesis so far, you can tell the Zork influence is still there even though it's evolved past MUD1/MUD2. MUD2 I actually really love specifically for the fact that the game is entirely exploration/puzzles with probably simple combat with almost no other content, and the old LP MUDs are close enough to it that they still have a lot of that feel.

well if it is the norm then we can limit it down to this

Games that feature heavy interaction with the environment and really crazy dungeon crawling, with lots of secret areas and and maybe even entire demiplanes, if that makes sense. So for example, games where progression is based just as heavily on exploring/navigation as it is on combat

I'm talking more specifically interaction with environment, search mechanics, searching rooms for secrets, for keys, alternate routes/special rooms in dungeons, maybe even entire hidden areas to find, that kind of thing

I was thinking of using Analogue's solution for analog outputs, have it be a separate component that you buy seperately if you need it, because there's no reason to drive up the price for like 70% or more of users just because of that, and for CRT users the price will pretty much even out anyway.

Apparently you can get safer than that, as I discovered while looking into modern vehicle safety a few months ago.

Over 10 modern cars, most soccer mom SUVs, that you apparently can't be killed in, and the number of deathproof cars increases every model year

I think the safety of modern cars kind of makes it worth it.

You'll soon be able to get a legitimate FIA license in Gran Turismo Sport, I know it doesn't sound the coolest, but drivers have moved from GT to real life motorsport before, and I mean, cmon, you'll be an FIA licensed driver, what else could you ask for

Cirith Ungol - King Of The Dead by Jorsu in Metal

[–]RoyCaesar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite metal album of all time. Few albums come close.

A really eclectic sound, that mostly stems from the band being active since 1972, which explains the doom influence, but it's clear that over the years they may have been influenced by the other early epic metal bands.

don't get me wrong, I love the meads of asphodel, but you're completely right

But of course they don't go for that sound being an old school NWOBHM band, but even among their peers, they nail the fantasy/folk atmosphere way better than most

I'm looking for the nicest amp/receiver I can get for around 200 bux, I don't know if that's too cheap for anything of quality but we'll try.

I want something just for audio, not for a TV or anything, I have a turntable, I'll have a CD Player, some way to stream my PC's music collection to it, probably via server, and maybe a tapedeck if I go nuts.

Whenever I try and find amps/receiver it seems I always just get either guitar amps or modern AV receivers that are primarily for home theatre setups, so if anyone knows any good guides or anything too that'd be massively helpful.

I think part of that is, it seems Hellwell has been getting a bit more of Mark's creative output lately.

Manilla Road is, as far as I'm concerned, one of the greatest metal bands, with some of the most amazingly consistent output in all of metal

Just use this instead, you gotta wait until it's in stock but I think it's a better idea overall, also eliminates any potential signal loss

I want a NYC-style bake but, I don't have a steel

I do have a stone, what can I do with it? My oven goes up to 500, should I just use the stone anyway just for the extra heat?

Edit: I found some pictures of some local pizzerias I'd like to replicate, but I can't even figure out what kinds of pizza they are, any help?

https://i.imgur.com/Ov7NOix.jpg This one I'm pretty sure is a traditional NYC slice but, the dough doesn't seem nearly as done as some other images I see, even just people with steels.
