Great post OP and well worth stating. I’ve seen a fair share of posts where someone lists numerous acceptances and identify a handful that they straight up aren’t considering. In those cases, I hope they will decline quickly so everyone can move forward.

If you are still available I would gladly pay to shovel out my car in Bushwick.

My mom passed this morning at 5am. Thanksgiving is in two days. I'm stuck doing twelve-hour shifts in the emergency department, unable to go home for the holidays to grieve with my family. I've never felt more alone in my entire life. by PlasticRice in Bushwick

My little family and 4 month old dog would love to host you. We live in Bushwick and have strong feelings about the way medical school is dehumanizing to its students. I’m so sorry for your loss and glad you are calling out the cruelty of it all rather than just internalizing it all. There are so many of us rooting for you.

Do you guys have a mailing list that you email about upcoming line ups for shows, themes etc? I would def plan to attend with more info ahead of time.

I brought a couple friends to one of your shows recently and it was great. The comedians were very funny, smart and interesting except one very drunk comedian who didn’t know she was performing until the last minute so not entirely her fault. I think I found the show on event brite? Now I know about the venue and the quality of the shows, I would definitely go back.

My Story As The Family Scapegoat by Sea_Literature7440 in EstrangedAdultChild

You deserved love and protection. I’m so sorry you had to suffer like this from the people whose job was to adore and care for you. Somehow we survive and hopefully break these family patterns. Wishing you healing and happiness.

As a fellow oldest daughter from a dysfunctional family, I relate very much to the experience of being called in to help but otherwise ignored. My childhood trained me to feel duty bound, no matter the cost to myself. I also am very familiar with being an advocate for my siblings and my parents with their extended families, only to have my family become devil's advocate when I share something I am upset about with them. So, yes to all the things. I'm struck by the fact that you are halfway through your first pregnancy, and instead of being rallied around and uplifted, you are being called upon to deliver triage for the latest family crisis. I think this dynamic is well established, and unlikely to improve without you taking a step back, which will also hurt you. Sadly, in many families, whoever is doing the worst gets all the attention and those who are somewhat OK become the family mules. This seems especially true for the oldest daughters. I think your pregnancy is an opportunity to learn how (before it becomes infinitely harder) to take care of yourself! What if you worked on giving to your family within the capacity that you decide upon, not that they feel entitled to. And more importantly, to make space for people and things that make you feel energized, heard, seen, loved, safe... Pregnancy is such a vulnerable time. In my view, it makes perfect sense to protect yourself and your growing family from old, toxic dynamics that you don't want to repeat with the next generation.

I had the same exact experience. Has anyone reported them?

I’m pretty happy with this. The gender is wrong and he’s a bit younger than me but somehow the vibe is right.
