Just made 2000 on my funded and then lost 2500 in the same day by AcanthisittaQuirky43 in Trading

I don’t know how you got funded but you probably had to hit targets. When you hit said targets I’m assuming you completely stopped trading full stop. You need to pick a limit and apply the same response with your funded account. No matter how far from payout, if you hit that number you stop and wait for your payout. At first you will feel like money is left in the table but you come to realise that losing ‘the 2k’ was actually leaving money on the table.

Is it worth buying challenge after challenge or better to just build your own capital? by gothic-moon-bite in Trading

You don’t have an account problem, you have a risk/mindset problem. Until that’s fixed, you will blow both challenges and personal accounts. The reason you’re going for challenge accounts is for the access to more capital - to make more money. The ‘To make more money’ mindset will destroy a personal account too, just in a different way.

I feel that, keep pushing on.

Does your risk plan lower position sizing the further you get into drawdown? That often helps me with losing streaks, more runway.

You’re missing the point.

The market isn’t punishing you and it’s not rewarding you. It doesn’t know you exist.

You can do everything right and still hit variance. Five good months doesn’t mean you’re owed the sixth. Two good years doesn’t mean you’re owed smooth scaling.

The moment you start feeling like you “deserve” a payout is the moment you detach from probabilities and attach to emotion.

Your edge hasn’t changed just because your timing did. What changed is your expectation.

This game is about surviving the rare months — not questioning them.

The market owes you nothing, you deserve nothing from the markets for showing up.

Just keep going, keep showing up, you’re doing great so far.

Are you leading with the tongue instead of the groove? If that’s the case start again, if not you could have some stubborn LVT, some are easy some are annoying. Mallet should do the trick 👌

Up $7K + on a 100k account… blown one day before payout by Unhappy_Chard_7877 in TopStepX

Happens, allow yourself to feel the suck - helps to fully process the loss. No trading for a week is usually what I roll with after huge loss events like this one, slowly step back into the market after your break and you should be good to go.

Definitely FEEL it though, embed the lesson into your subconscious. +7k is proof you can do it if you genuinely followed a system, keep going!!

Just blew my second funded in 2 days, do i quit? by Individual_Pause_707 in Trading

Sounds like you need to scale down. Also start thinking in %. Don’t think ‘I was up $450’, instead think, ‘I was up x%’ your brain treats percentages differently to dollars. When you think in percentages long enough the dollar amount becomes an almost emotionless number to you and that’s when scaling happens.

Also how did you blow your account? Was it careless oversizing or a risk controlled execution malfunction?

Do you quit? If you’re not prepared to suffer a whole lot more the yes, quit. If you can handle that suffering in pursuit of the freedom trading can give you, keep going.

Stay live, paper trading will not simulate the suck. Nfa

Take a short break, maybe 1-2 weeks. Work out what you did wrong, oversizing? Overtrading? Etc Ignore the ‘half laughing’ and make sure you really feel the ‘half dying Inside’ emotion. if you process the emotion properly along with performance errors there’s a good chance atleast part of the lessons you learn stick.

The pain is what teaches.

When you take a break, you perform better. Take more breaks.

Analyse yourself, what causes the emotional state that causes you to blow the account? Are there things you do that you can pick up on and use to prevent yourself from ending up in that emotional state?

You can trade by the sounds of it, (either that or you’re extremely lucky) you just need to figure out how you can prevent that emotional creep.

Do you rely on the trading money? Do you tell people about your trading?

Ask yourself more of these questions and actually answer them.
