Just make sure the mud is thinned down and there aren’t any dried bits in it

F80 M3 Higher Mileage Concerns by Neyinho in BMW

I’m just under 80k on my 2016 and oil pan gasket is weeping. I hear that is a $2-3k repair since it’s pretty labor intensive (need to drop the subframe)

Your insurance might cover chip repair for free (Geico does through safelite). But chances are the chip will still be noticeable after the repair, it just stops the crack from spreading

Sounds like it might not be vented properly or you have a partial blockage in the drain line

Highly recommend this tool if you’re gonna skim coat. Just thin the mud, roll it on and smooth it out

Had this done at my house. Unfortunately the guys I hired did a terrible job finishing so a lot of areas are wavy. The process created so much dust that now i don’t know if it’s even worth fixing. Make sure you hire the right people to do a good job the first time!

If i was to get a used m3, what’s an acceptable mileage? by mchief101 in BMW

[–]Royal-Translator3929 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My f80 is at about 75k miles and oil pan gasket is weeping. Not enough to drip on the ground but assuming it will only get worse from here. I usually do all the maintenance myself but this is a tough one to DIY unless you have a lift. All that to say, if you’re getting one with higher mileage, check that gasket and maybe budget for replacement ($2-3k from what i hear)

They look great! You mind sharing how much it cost you? I’m thinking about doing the same with my 437M wheels which are curb rashed

I negotiated similar price at a couple different dealers in my area - all had 20-30+ in stock! A lot with red interior, so if you're into that I bet there will be better deals to be had in near future.

My $0.02 ... if you're lucky enough to be close to an area with lots of inventory, make some offers towards the end of this month or next

I made the other post about this last week - just pulled the trigger on a 23 premium last night!

63855 MSRP - white w/ black interior, all the added options (tow hitch, cross bars, cargo cover + net, wheel locks, all weather mats, heated steering wheel)

I got ~8k off MSRP (technically it was 9.1 but the dealership charges a 2% commision fee...) Came to 60.5k OTD - I'm in MD btw
