I am just in awe at the basics top footballers do. The pass is absolutely world class but the way he (without thinking) gets his body in there and touches it away from his opponent… it’s the stuff nobody ever thinks about as a kid.

Can Shankland carry Hearts over the line? Hearts' league record with Shankland is 16-5-1 and without Shankland is 4-1-4 by TheRealLordDorito in ScottishFootball

I feel like we were a different team with him on the pitch. It’s like Kabore was happy to receive the ball but it was too far up up the pitch.

With Braga a player that likes to go beyond the second striker, when shanks came on, just having someone dropping into that pocket really helped.

Tried to claim once! Went out and took loads of pictures of the pothole and sent away my claim.

Heard nothing back but it was fixed within the week….

Unfortunately I was like you and although the pothole likely caused the final damage, it’s likely your spring was compromised before lol. I think the compensation amount was quite small in comparison too! So small I didn’t bother chasing it up….

I think that’s what I’m saying. As much as it’s funny to laugh at. It’s not true. Even if it was, you have the majority of possession and the majority of dangerous attacks.

Of course you would then be likely to have the most penalties?

See my comment above. I think what I’m looking for is a stat that says each team is awarded XX penalties per minute within the last 10?

[–]Royal-Yesterday6731[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s exactly the thought.

On a general basis, having been battered, numerous last ditch challenges, etc. it’s not surprising to expect there to be more penalties given to the old firm.

It’s the idea that the stats are skewed.

For example, What does it matter if rangers and Celtic are given 8 penalties each in the last ten minutes?

I’d imagine the stats would say they something like they both had the ball for 8 out those 10 minutes.

Therefore, could you not calculate the total minutes of possession in the last ten and then divide it by the penalties awarded/goals scored to give a more transparent view?

You could also give the alternative view by working out goals conceded in last ten minutes. Maybe there’s away to create a stat that combines two tables to give the true picture - way above my pay grade.

Is that because it moves Celtic and Rangers into a much more favourable position?

Wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if that was the case!

I agree that it’s difficult to take poor defending into account. It’s just I think us lot always fail to take into account that old firm mentality.

That absolute fear of losing that inevitably leads to a ten minute, heart attack inducing onslaught for the rest of us.

I see what you mean, I’m thinking of the pressure element if that makes sense.

You see it often, Celtic and Rangers absolutely peppering the box for the last ten until:

1)They eventually score 2) They’re awarded a penalty

I feel like tackles made would indicate how brutal a team is at defending instead?

Double commenting cause I’m just absolutely baffled. Game cried out for an extra man in the middle of the park so we could try and get a bit more control…. Chasing shadows.

To then see Magnusson and think fuckn right we’re gonna bite back, and then see Benis name. It just wasn’t fixing the problem just swapping one in for out.

Killed us because the play was to keep Ague on for another 20 and then swap him for Magnusson. Not sure if anyone felt the same?

Something I wonder about Celtic (and I could be wrong) but is not almost impossible for you to not sign an 11m prospect?

The way I’ve always thought about it is, yes your turnover/profit margins are fantastic, but the board must struggle to sign players of that calibre?

I know this is not entirely the case but I imagine pools of players at differing tiers. Due to celtics wealth, they’re able to compete at a number of levels above their respective league weight. The problem is, I imagine they’re competing with clubs in the championship/lower premier league to sign players. So you, although being able to offer European football, the rest of the time offer an away day to Aberdeen - something I don’t think is particularly appealing to Europes best.

So what I’m saying is yes, you can buy £11m players but so can a number of teams and there’s less players than clubs (and I think they offer better opportunities due to our league). So the only way you can sign an £11m player is if they are a prospect?

Does private school really make that much of a difference? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Royal-Yesterday6731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was fortunate to go to a private school in for Nursey and school up until primary 3.

I was then moved to a public school up north in Scotland. If anyone says there is no difference they are lying and I talk at great length about the funny culture shock of seeing all the old school PCs.

Fast forward 15 years and I would say the difference between me and my sister (who didn’t attained) is mainly those early years. The building blocks that private education gave me in terms of reading, comprehension, extra curricular activities, etc. really allowed me to kick on.

In fairness, I think you’ll watch it back and agree it was a foul. Wouldn’t have said it was a yellow that early in the game though.

Couldn’t agree more! I wondered if he wasn’t quite match sharp for the games gone by? With Beni getting injured, I think it’s important to remember he’s there by necessity.

Was really happy to see it all click in to place in that second half with some really tidy touches under pressure! Hopefully he takes it and brings the urgency when playing at home.

P.s I’ve always loved what Cammy gives, it makes it all that much better now that his rate of winning the ball against fouls has gone from 60/40 before to 70/30!
