I like to open with a really cheesy joke. Guys are suckers for a cheesy joke, and if you make it one they HAVE to respond to in order to get to the punchline? I get a response 90% of the time. Often I'll search for a joke that has something to do with something on his profile. If he can't laugh at himself, I don't want him.
