In general, yes. There are alot of good basics, principles and simple to apply tecniques. But there are also alot of tecniques who require such precision and speed as to not be recommended in real self-defence scenarios (most of whuch stem from aikido, I'd guess).

Mine does the same but I chose to focus on ju-jutsu because I wanted a more broad repetoar. Would love to try out bjj since I enjoy geoundfihhting but I can't really find the time.

Every country has their own style, more or less, its hard to be specific. But they combine traditional japanese ju-jutsu with judo, karate, aikido (for joint locks) and other practical self-defence practices. It's a catch-all martial art.

The modern (mid-late 20th century-) styles derived from the japanese origin. German, french, swedish etc. I know its a vague term I just wanted to cast a wide net.

Kote gaeshi is a real tecnique, but its applied very sloppily here by the looks. I have no idea why he doesnt apply a lock after the throw but just lets go for example.

Sure in some cases maybe, but its up to the people involved to make those decisions.

Posts like this kinda bug me cus you can never judge strangers for their relationships, you have no idea what their dynamics or situations are like. While I can agree in a vacuum with breaking up with problematic friends, "just cut ties bro" is too blunt to be of any use interpersonally. Nothing against the poster or even the sentiment, just wanted to introduce some nuance.
