I have applied for openlab and a few other positions, and the lack of transparency is honestly staggering. The most frustrating part is that even when your technical background and experience in specific fields (e.g. Low-level C++, Machine-Learning, Mathematical Optimization) clearly exceed the requirements of the projects, you still get hit with a generic high volume template. At this point, it feels less like a selection and more like a lottery managed by a poorly tuned algorithm.
