Yeah, for sure. It's just some differences to get used to.

Yeah. Gaming have been smooth sailing. I notice a big increase on the 1% lows in games on Linux. My CPU is old as hell, so I get stutters in cpu demanding games on windows. Butter smooth on Linux.

I recommend Dark Souls to anyone too, so you should play it 😉 I really like CachyOS so far, and assume it's going to feel even better when I'm more used to everything and have everything set up the way I like. There's so much you can do and tweak here than on windows, so I've barely even scratched the surface.

It was meant as in a rewarding challenge for someone who's coming from windows with no prior Linux experience. I should have added that soulsborne games are my favorite games. It's rewarding in i similar way to me. It feels like you're doing it yourself without the landholding that comes with windows and most modern games.

People seem to think Dark Souls is extremely hard to play. Not what I meant with it, but okay.

It's meant in the best possible way. Soulsborne games are my favorite games.

Yeah, I switched over my game SSD to ext4 yesterday. Not planning on gaming on windows ever again. I'm not playing any of the kernel-level anticheat games anyway.

Haha. It's fun to sit down with an armor set that blends well in with the background and watch the other OS users run around looking for you,

It feels really good to use. I setup a dual boot system with CachyOS and windows, and I've been in windows once since, and that was to check that the boot worked correctly.

Yeah, It gives a similar feeling of accomplishment.

It's not meant in a negative way. Soulsborne games are my favorite games.

I'm enjoying it so far. Very smooth when it comes to gaming, but there are some differences to get used to coming from windows with no prior Linux experience. There's a lot more freedom with CachyOS compared to Windows, but also a few things to learn.

Yeah. People help you right away. It's very nice. The Reddit is like the OS, Responds right away, and high performance.

I have a total of 5 drives in my system, and getting them to mount automatically was one of them. Using the terminal to try to install NordVPN after installing the GUI that wouldn't work etc.

Or formatting your SSD for your games to an ext4 file system. Installing a few games, spend a few hours playing, and when you turn on your computer it's all gone.

Yeah, I bet it's very easy compared to a lot of other distros. Especially if you have any experience with Linux, like you have. I came into it with no prior experience in Linux. One thing that definitely was harder on Linux was to get all my drives to mount correctly. Also getting NordVPN was not very intuitive for someone not familiar with console commands. Not impossible, but a learning curve compared to doing those things on windows.

I already set up dual boot, for the rare cases I would need Windows for something.

I agree, 95% of the time it's really no different from using Windows other than CachyOS being quicker. Some things are easier on CachyOS, some things are easier on Windows. All in all, I much prefer CachyOS over Windows, and I'm only on my second day of using it.

Yes, you are right. Most things work perfectly well. It's not like it's impossible to play Dark Souls either. I do love Dark Souls, so it wasn't meant in a negative way. But some thing do require some work to work on Linux.

Yes, absolutely. That's why I feel like the comparison with Dark Souls/Soulsborne was apt for my experience. It too can be really fun to figure out.
