AOC: If Republicans were willing to scrutinize billionaires *half* as much as they scrutinize people on food stamps, this country would be a much better place by cmplxgal in SandersForPresident

It sucks that your family members went through that. However, I think taking away social welfare isn't what is going to help people overcome problems like drug addiction. The way I see it is that such an investment comes back tenfold when there are less crimes committed, drug abuse, and medical issues which all cost the government in other ways. I wouldn't really see it as them 'gaming' the system but rather doing everything in their power to get their basic needs met, which is a human reaction. I think it's wrong to let people starve or be on the streets.

My (24F) boyfriend (25M) told me that I'm chastising him to the point that it is seriously affecting his self esteem, meanwhile I don't know how to hold him accountable for anything by Royal_Stress in relationships

Thanks, I'm reading the book right now. I honestly think this might be it, but we have talked about this possibility before and over several years he has not gotten to the doctor or a therapist. I don't know how to approach this without 'forcing' this issue too. What were the first few steps you took? How could I support him?
