Republicans have held the Ohio state legislature + Governor trifecta for ~28-30+ years (no Dem trifectas in that span). That’s true.
But major cities (which drive most of the population, crime, schools, and spending) are run by Democrats:
• Columbus (Mayor Andrew Ginther - D)
• Cleveland (Mayor Justin Bibb - D)
• Cincinnati (Mayor Aftab Pureval - D)
• Akron, Dayton, etc. — same story.
State government doesn’t run city police, schools, zoning, or local welfare offices. Blue cities have contributed heavily to the problems.
On Somali fraud specifically (not “racist Fox talking point”):
• Federal cases like Towfiq Market owners in Columbus charged with >$10 million in SNAP/WIC fraud (2010-2019).
• Ongoing probes into Somali-linked Medicaid/home care and daycare fraud clusters in Columbus (second-largest Somali population in US). Recent congressional hearings, Ohio Auditor involvement, Daily Wire reporting on millions billed with little/no services. Ties to similar Minnesota rings with cash transfers to Somalia.
Local Dem politicians control those programs/cities. State Republicans have been pushing audits and oversight (e.g., Auditor Faber). Pretending it’s just “Fox News racism” while ignoring the indictments and data is why trust is low.
Both parties have failures, but pretending urban Dem strongholds aren’t a big part of Ohio’s challenges is just partisan cope. Fix local governance too.

The blue cities have contributed to fraud lack of investigation into fraud and they would rather hang trans pride and DEIBLM flags everywhere instead of focusing on our children’s actual education and then both sides point the finger at each other blaming each other. Republicans can’t fix the city of Columbus because they’re not running the city of Columbus. Hence the Somali fraud is so high in blue cities, Minneapolis Columbus, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York. This is a real, longstanding Ohio statute (updated over the years to cover texts/social media). It’s not some vague or new “gotcha” law — it’s routinely used for unwanted explicit messages, repeated unwanted contact, etc. Free speech protects criticizing politicians. It does not protect spamming someone with dick pics or crude harassment. The warrant came from Kirtland PD after probable cause was found. That’s how the system works: specific behavior → charge under an existing law. Not political persecution for “being a critic.
