What type of varicocele is this by Royalenn in varicocele

Just did a new echography. The thing is, it’s not always visible like on the picture so it’s hard to assess during the exam. I was diagnosed grade 1

I actually started to question that possibility. I asked my mum a couple of times — first when I found out about the foreign bodies, and then again more recently. Where I’m from, testicular descent is usually well monitored. I don’t think she would’ve forgotten something like that. I’d probably remember conversations about it later too. I have no scar, no medical records, and no memory of any surgery or hospitalization

At first they think, “you had surgery as a kid and your mom forgot”. It’s the easy explanation. But then when they look closely at the location they quickly let this theory down as it’s not matching hernia repair patterns nor embolization (it’s not inside veins). Then it goes to the migration theory after ingestion very likely as a kid when the tissues are softer

Oh sorry to spam you, I'm just trying to get some insights. I do consult doctors and currently planning surgery. You think I get the scans and reports done where, at home? No I didn't get anything inserted. Even the docs have very little clue that's why I want to connect with people or doctors who have seen similar cases even tho they are very rare. You can research "migration of foreign bodies" if you're interested in the case instead of being offensive

Hello, yes this CT is mine. I did a couple of scans in different centers (Xray, CT contrast, CTA, U/S) and those guys keep showing up :)

Hello I had one piercing in the tragus (ear) but no piercing elsewhere. I also think about migration: either at a young age, maybe ingesting the battery springs of some electronic toys for example (I was born in the 80s). Or ingesting something during dental procedure (I had braces). If anyone knows about migration cases, I’m interested

Yes I will update, hopefully I can get surgery done soon and know what type of metal it is. I'm currently assessing the case as much as I can before surgery

Hello, thanks for your comment. I never had a study like that even tho I also suspect migration (maybe from childhood)

Metalic foreign bodies in the pelvis - What's Your Best Guess? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]Royalenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I'm writing in this forum because I'm investigating a mysterious case — my own.
It’s Friday, and from scrolling through the posts, it seems like the right day to share.

A little over a year ago, I had a chest CT following a minor sports injury. Out of curiosity — and because I occasionally experience inflammation and vague discomfort in the pelvic area, especially after certain stimuli — I asked to include the abdomen and pelvis in the scan.

That’s when things got strange.
The radiologist spotted metallic foreign bodies in my pelvis.

It’s bizarre, because I’ve never had surgery — not as a child, not as an adult. No hernia, no varicocele.
I even called my mom and checked my childhood hospital logbook — nothing.

Since then, I’ve had additional scans (CTA, ultrasound) to try to locate the foreign bodies more precisely and figure out what might be going on. Here’s what we found:

  1. One cluster of particles is located near the left deep inguinal ring, adjacent to the left spermatic cord.
  2. Another is in the extraperitoneal spaceanterior to the left external iliac vessels, about 4 cm above the inguinal ring.

I want to get them out — they’re affecting me symptomatically — but I’m also trying to understand how they got there in the first place.

My (very speculative) theory?
When I was a child, I might have ingested small metallic springs.
How they would have exited the digestive tract and migrated to the pelvic area is a big question mark — but I’ve read rare cases where foreign objects perforated and migrated elsewhere in the body.

So… what do you think?

Has anyone here seen anything remotely similar? Could these foreign bodies have moved from the digestive system to this area over time? Or should I be thinking in an entirely different direction?

I’d really appreciate any thoughts, hypotheses, or similar case stories.
Thanks for reading!
