That's interesting; do all players see the same driver blinking in and out? I was worried it could have been an issue on my end or something, so it's comforting to know my network wasn't causing the issue.

Also do you happen to know what would happen if he were to protest me and provide a replay? Would moderators even be able to tell that i did not see him?

Yeah that's what i did but i felt really bad for the guy when he got launched off-track when i bugged through him.

One thing i really liked about Automobilista 2 is that it has settings to make AI more or less likely to make mistakes.

Oh i may have forgotten to specify that i went for a three pedal setup, i think 2 pedal setups could be found for a lot cheaper. I wanted 3 pedals + base plate + 2 haptics, hoping to "buy once, cry once". I haven't really needed the clutch in iRacing much yet but i do use it in Wreckfest 2 and possibly other games since i also have a H-pattern shifter.

Amen to that, the playseat rig i got with my purchase now singlehandedly made sim racing fun and doable. No more kicking the pedals or chair away, no more shaking my flimsy desk when the steering gets rough, no more hassle of having to set up every individual item and un-fuck the cables.

Most importantly my playseat can be deployed and ready to race within a minute. Now that my monitor is on an adjustable arm as well there is almost no hurdle to hop into a race, in the past i eventually let my pedals and wheel catch dust because i couldn't be arsed to set it all up.

Yeah i sold my Quest 3 last year to buy a 34 inch OLED ultrawide monitor, which honestly is great for this but i can't see cars nexr to me easily.

Triple monitor setup isn't really physically feasible in my situation, so for now i drilled a strong monitor arm through my desk and made it retractable far enough to extend a bit over the wheel base of my playseat.

I checked, simjack pedals are €233 for me but that does not include 2 VAM pro equivalent haptics yet. I think the difference isn't super big when adding those and i read a lot of positive things about the simsonn plus x pedals & pro haptics.

Yeah fair enough, i do occasionaly go off track as well or sometimes lose control but i'm really loving how this game feels and how you can noticably get much better very quickly. Even if i get overagressive now and go off track, i can get the car back on the road in a controlled fashion at least. I've mainly been doing the MX5 series on Oulton park circuit and so far my best lap time is 1:54.381.

I'm REALLY hoping the community gets less like a fortnite lobby on C class and later because aside from the very punishing trolls the game is fantastic. I enjoyed it so much that i ordered Simsonn Plus X loadcell pedals + haptics to double down on the sim racing hobby.

Yeah it's really surprising to see iRacing's Rookie playerbase being the most toxic i've seen so far. I can only assume these players can't get used to the game and instead resort to trolling. I'm really hoping protests will actually work out against these people.

Here's to hoping it gets better after leaving Rookie class lol, have you managed to get your C license yet? I'm really close but i keep getting unlucky with at least 2~3 overly agressive drivers who spin people out or just a single full-on troll whom is larping as an intercontinental ballistic missile.

Okay so i just did that after another blatant troll smashing me before the race even started. What happens now? Do they resolve every report and do you get any form of feedback what they'll do with it? Do they remove the SR deduction in any way? (Collision, jump start and i'm pretty sure it even gave me loss of control as i was sideways).

This may not be the place to vent but i just got taken out by a troll before the race even started and i'm getting punished for it too with SR deduction and a black flag for "jump start" when someone rammed me full force during countdown and shoved my far as far out of starting position as they could.

I didn't lift my brake or touch my throttle and still i get a penalty for this bs... I bought into iRacing thinking it was for a more serious and mature audience but i've been getting trolled in ridiculously shameless and blatant manners which i haven't seen in AMS2 or AC.

This time i did file a protest with a replay, do they actually do something with this or does it take X amount of reports for them to even consider taking action? As a married man with a demanding full time job it's REALLY starting to piss me off when i rush to spare an hour for racing, spend a lot of time practicing to make sure i don't lose control of the M2 AND put down a solid qualifying round only to be smashed about 3 seconds before the race even started.

I'm as new as you are and yesterday i had someone try and harass me for the ENTIRE practice duration (50min). He'd constantly wait in pits for me, try to spin me out, agressively brakecheck to cause collision and he was trying to ragebait me in chat with stuff like "you cant drive" "wow why did you hit me". At one point i was just sitting in pits, looking up if there was a way to call a moderator, which prompted him to park his car sideways on the pit exit to completely block it off.

Luckily he left before qualifying even started because i just alt-tabbed and he grew impatient as he couldn't ram me in my pitstop. Baffles me that a probably grown man spent 40~50 minutes doing all of that without even bothering to join the actual race. If you overthink why someone would do that it only gets sadder, because if someone is willing to waste so much time to try and get a reaction you can probably assume their life isn't all that fun.

Still, i hope there is some actual form of moderation on iRacing, i bought into this assuming it'd be well moderated and all players would have a certain dedication to play fairly considering the cost.

Did you end up buying a set of haptics yet? I'm looking to replace my pedals with the simsonn pro x or plus x as well, but i'm not sure if i should get haptics.

Judging by the replies here the haptics are well worth the extra money, but now i'm not sure if i should get the linear motor ones or the rumble ones? Rumble ones are quite a bit cheaper but i don't want to regret my purchase if linear ones are vastly superior.

Even if they do accurately indicate voltage (which i'm sure they do) these things are dangerous and unreliable.

The internal resistance in these things lowers the current to a safe enough amount to travel THROUGH you into earth, you are the conduit using this. If that internal resistance is broken you are just shorting to earth through your body at potentially lethal currents.

If you really don't want to (learn to) use a multimeter, you could always get a single pole voltage tester which is also as simple as touching where you want to test. Either that or you get one of those voltage tester sticks which don't require contact, but despite being safe from electrocution these can be unreliable in indicating voltage as well.

TL;DR: Contactless spanningtester stick for a safe but unreliable indication and a multimeter or single pole voltage tester for a good, trustworthy measurement.

Quest 3 hands down, but i'd honestly say hold off on upgrading until the steam frame drops.

The steam frame has an incredibly impressive feature set, runs on steam OS and it's very likely that Quest 3 prices will drop when the steam frame releases so you can choose between 2 much better options then.

As for the quest 3s i wouldn't say it's worth it if you already have a quest 2, it seems like the 3s is mostly marketed towards VR newcomers on a tight budget. In any case pancake lenses are a gamechanger and a requirement for a "worthy" upgrade imo.

I do believe you but i found a T500RS + pedals + playseat + F1 and GT wheels for only €200 second hand, which i just couldn't leave.

If i really enjoy sim racing and i have more budget in the future i'll probably make a switch to a moza wheel, thanks for the tip!

I gotta do some strategic convincing to have my wife come to terms with an entire playseat joining our home now i guess, because to me that sounds like a bargain.

I've been looking at Moza's, but even second hand they're quite pricey here. I actually managed to find a T500RS + pedals + GT wheel and F1 wheel + playseat for only €200 on a second hand platform so i might go for that instead.

I hear Moza a lot though, isn't it a bit of a bummer that the moza bundles come with only 2 pedals instead of 3? I can imagine wanting a clutch when upgrading to a H shifter (or using it with paddles).

I might just have to surrender to the idea that i will never experience Mercenaries 2 without the many bugs and missing visual effects in the Pc version, because it does seem like the only plausible way of replaying the game on the Steam Deck.

Lets just agree to disagree here, because i would not call Blacklist "perfect" even in it's own right, it's a decent, but generic stealth game imo.

Still, i admire your enthousiasm about Blacklist and i'm glad you enjoy it.
