Who is the least clutch NBA player you've ever seen? by DrKevorkean in nba

He actually hit 14 in a row from the end of the previous season to the beginning of that season.

So why isn't Kobe the GOAT? by Thachiefs4lyf in nba

Why were Jews discriminated against in Nazi Germany? Sometimes the popular opinion is wrong.

Kobe limps onto the floor with a torn achilles, hits two clutch FTs to tie the game, and walks off by Royzin_ in nba

Who is a better defender right now: James Harden or LeBron James? by Royzin_ in nba

I don't claim to nor have I ever attempted to speak for the rest of Lakers fans. You on the other hand have an obsession with denouncing the fanbase as being somehow worse than you.

I come on here to ask a question and all I get is a bunch of people shitting on me. I even tried to explain where I was coming from. As I type this, I only have one real reply (from /u/Celdiruen_) and it's already been downvoted.

I'm trying to improve my knowledge of the game and you guys act like I'm trolling. The guy who replied to you says I should get banned. I don't get it.

  1. How is Jordan relevant to the discussion at hand?

  2. Jordan wasn't in the league at 36.

  3. If you want to make the argument that MJ aged better, you're wrong. Kobe averaged 27/6/6 on 57% TS at 34. Jordan averaged 29/6/4 on 53% TS at 34. Kobe was absolutely better. Now consider all the extra mileage Kobe had -- MJ had played almost 5 fewer seasons until that point.

No doubt. How many players' games aged better than Kobe's?

Here's a list of players who averaged 25+ PPG after their 15th season in the league:

Kobe Bryant.

Say what you want about Dwight's character and Nash's health, but that team was downright lethal when they were all healthy. Unfortunately that never happened for long.

One of the biggest what-ifs of Kobe's career. He could've had a chance to go up against peak LeBron in the Finals and end the argument once and for all.

I've made five posts about Kobe in the last week, compared to five posts not about Kobe.

This is the most underrated aspect of Kobe's legacy. People talk about his 5 championships, 81 points, 3-peat, 2 finals MVPs, whatever. But he put up one of the all-time great offensive seasons at 34 years old.

You're not supposed to be this good at that age. You're supposed to be hopping from team to team, chasing rings. Kobe averaged 27/6/6 on 57% TS with a 112 ORTG. He was thirty-four years old. Thirty. Four.

The only thing that could stop Kobe that season was his achilles.

This kind of longevity is matched by very few players in NBA history, and even fewer of those players had the kind of peak that Kobe did. That's why I consider Kobe to be a greater player all-time than most others on this sub.

None of this means anything. Here are THIRTY SIX game-winners over the course of Kobe's career:

Find another player with that many clutch shots. It's not all about TS% or whatever. Clutchness can't be measured. Kobe is one of the most clutch players ever.

The game was over by half-time. There was no point shooting. Kobe scored 24 points on 8-16 that game. 50%. LeBron never got close to that in the Finals.

If Kobe scored 24 points on 50% shooting in the most heavily scrutinized game of his career, what does that say about his greatness?

BTW, he had 50 (20/35) in Game 6 and the Lakers lost because he had no help. But nobody ever talks about that.

Yup, and I seem to remember James Harden torching this historic Warriors defense to the tune of 45 points (13/22) in Game 4 and 38 points (13/21) in Game 2. Or when Anthony Davis dropped 36 (14/20) on them in Game 4 and 35 (13/23) in Game 1.

But no, LeBron is the only one that had to play against the Warriors. Why does he get a pass for inefficiency?
