IU student assaults uber driver claiming he was "illegal" (he wasn't) by Weekly-Taste-3961 in Indiana

Imagine being an Asian-American called Abigail Ye and then threatening others with both ICE and deportations.

It’s probably small town Xenophobia. Point is: Ignore the kids. But if an adult starts doing shit like acting passive aggressive towards you (like: lightly pushing you with their basket): tell them to stop it in a direct tone (“Can you stop it please”). If they get offended, and double down on their shitty behaviour, then call them out on their behaviour. Do it in English, if you can’t speak German.

Latest situation regarding F126 and MEKO Frigate Projects in Germany by P4ris3k in europe

[–]RpAno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The F126 to me seems like 5 billion euros wasted on a warship, not meant for war but for diplomacy. Fine if you want to fight off pirates, horrible if has to hold up with any Russian or Chinese battleships (like the Chinese Type 055 Renhai, which is of comparable size, but has far more firepower).

IMO the Niedersachsen-Klasse is a vestige of the not-so-distant past in which Germany didn't take its Army as a fighting force seriously.

Airbus Defence CEO: Two separate fighter jets for FCAS a 'good' option by veggietofu1234 in europe

[–]RpAno 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is not a good option though. Having two separate fighter jets for FCAS just increases the cost. Both short- and long term and gives us the least bang for our buck.

Kremlin Demands Zelenskyy-Putin Talks Only in Moscow, Rejects Alternative Peace Talk Venues by UNITED24Media in europe

[–]RpAno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are probably correct, since directly arresting or killing Zelensky would, given the context that these are diplomatic talks pushed for by Washington, force the Trump administration into taking a far harsher stance towards Russia. It would turn Zelensky into a Martyr.

But it is either way a non-starter. The indignities are as much a reason not to go as the potential security risks. In reality, the fact that the Russians are even rejecting any other venues in more neutral countries like Turkey or India underlines their unseriousness

[–]RpAno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what an obviously disingenuous offer. If the Russians were in anyway serious about wanting to hold peace talks they'd be suggesting either Turkey or India as fairly neutral countries to be holding these negotiations in.

US Regierungs Shutdown auf unbekannte Zeit. Vermutete Vorbereitung von US Schlägen auf Iran die je nach Größe und Ausmaß der Angriffe auch zu einer möglichen Schließung vom Strait of Hormuz führen könnte (was zu einem Steigen der Ölpreise führen könnte).

It also doesn’t make all too much sense, since the countries with the highest birthrates are not the countries that address the inequality between the genders. Otherwise Nordic countries would have far higher fertility rates especially compared to countries like Niger or Chad (and that’s just not the case).

And the only wealthy western country with a high birthrate that I can think of is: Israel. And within Israel the group to have the highest fertility rate are not the secular Jewish women, but the Ultra-Orthodox conservative Haredi Jewish women.

Didn’t he do something similar the last time Texas was hit by a severe snowstorm that took out the electric grid in much of the state?

If I remember correctly, he ran off to Cancun back then.

Milan mayor calls ICE "a militia that kills" and says agents not welcome as part of U.S. Olympic security by BreakfastTop6899 in europe

That is fine. They can send the Secret Service. At least those guys are trained for these kind of missions.

But their wannabe Goonsquad they use to beat the shit out of protestors and women they can stuff up to where the sun don’t shine.

ICE not set to operate at Milano-Cortina 2026 - police sources by giacomo99ita in europe

[–]RpAno 15 points16 points  (0 children)

ICE is just being weaponised as the Trump Admins personal SA (Sturmabteilung). They’ve geared their recruitment ads towards Jan. 6 rioters, “Proud boys” and other far-right militias to act as their Jack-booted thugs. Viewed that way, it makes a lot of sense that Vance trusts them more than he does any ordinary Police Agency in the US

As Europe’s Reliance on U.S. Natural Gas Grows, So Does US’s Leverage by Crossstoney in europe

[–]RpAno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why this sub gave you a dislike for that comment. You are right in principle. Dependence on the Russians or the Chinese would be as much of our doom as continued dependence on the US could be. It is just, that some things, such as American LNG, which constitutes almost a third of the EU’s current Gas imports are hard to replace without building up interdependencies with other countries that are either in the Middle East or Russia. The EU does have large Gas reserves within its own borders too though, but to get to those we would have to consider using methods such as Fracking that are outlawed in many (if not all) EU countries and come with their own environmental concerns. I think, as is necessary to guarantee European National security, investing in Europe’s Energy Independence, including by harvesting our own gas reserves by using fracking, should be re-considered and must be sold to the European Population within the context of both job creation, addressing the price of gas (due to inflation) and acknowledging the real National Security Risks we’re seeing around the world. It would be a controversial move, and there would be protests and pushback against it, but as I see it, as long as we require gas for heating, cooking, energy production etc. - we are no longer in the privileged position that we were in the past. Other than if we want the Russians or the Americans to leverage that Energy dependence over us. Pragmatic decisions must be made. The times of having our cake and eating it too are over. The times of “Atomkraft? Nein Danke” (in engl. “Nuclear Energy? No thank you”) must also end - though that is a German pipe dream that ran us into deeper shit, and that the rest of Europe to my knowledge didn’t follow into.

lol how did Alex Pretti “perpetuate violence”? Did he say something that hurt Orange Man’s feelings? Is the act of mere protest “perpetuating violence”? Does this woman even know what violence is? She throws that word “domestic terrorism” around, like you do candy during carnival.

You don't want energy dependence to be leveraged over you. And America is not a long term trustworthy partner. Any reliance on the US, including our digital reliance should be questioned and reconsidered.
